Blimey, feeling old moment! "I was around when SJS was in DrWho!" I was 4 when I first saw her in it with Tom Baker.

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 17:11

and the memory stayed with you forever...

I didn't want to assume you were old enough to have seen it but thought you might have been . Dh doesn't even like Dr Who but strangely enough, could recall the episodes she was in with alarming clarity.

UnquietDad · 03/01/2007 17:18

Funnily enough she came back into it when I was a teenager - there was a 20th anniversary special with all the Doctors - and she didn't do much for me then. She looks better now!!

Sarah Jane in 1970s

Sarah Jane in 1980s

and now!!

milge · 03/01/2007 17:18

The whole sci fi, Dr Who, Prisoner, Torchwood thing is kept going by the gay community - with Russell T Davies as writer there was little chance that it would be "straight" - think more camp fiasco!
Cap'n Jack snogging an airman in public in the 1940's would never have happened, but I guess its called suspending your disbelief!

DumbledoresGirl · 03/01/2007 17:25

Thanks for that information Foxinsocks. I do normall watch it every week but I can never remember what day it is on and I certainly don't know what day of the week it is most of the time now anyway!

Now about Jack and Ianto. Surely you remember J asking I to stay behind and do something with a stop watch. What was that all about?

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 17:26

the only thing I thought about that snog is that it could have been in some sort of time warp thing....at the end, everyone else was still and the real Jack was still able to move (iyswim)

I agree UD - on those pictures, she looks better now!

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 17:27

oh yes DG, this week Owen said something about Ianto being Jack's slag on the side (so to speak - can't remember exactly what was said) and there was a little kiss between the two of them at some point near the end I think (or was I imaginging it?!).

motherinferior · 03/01/2007 17:28

'part-time shag', is I think the expression you are recalling. And a proper Jack/Ianto snog too.

Not that I was slavering, you understand.

Munz · 03/01/2007 17:43

OMG my DH loves torchwood - hates Dr who but loves the torchwood and is enjoying tellin me all about it! lol.

DumbledoresGirl · 03/01/2007 17:48

So Jack snogs two men in this episode? This I cannot miss!

Twiglett · 03/01/2007 18:19

at MI ..

have just realised I found the 1940's snog unrealistic but was completely happy with the 50ft monster ... how reminiscent of the 50ft woman movie .. right down to the sfx

who is sarah-jane? is she the new sidekick in Dr Who? is there a new side-kick

nikkie · 03/01/2007 19:45

Sarah Jane was an old companion of the Dr who now has her own series.

Something did change about 1940s Capt Jacks death as on another offical website (link on other thread) it has newspaper articles about Capt Jack dying on the 5th rather than the 21st as our Jack said

i thought it was ace - really returned to form! the jack/jack kiss was v sexy. i wonder if john barrowman insisted on a lot of takes? I think it's wonderful to have mainstream TV where gaiety is presented as something unremarkable and an out gayer is cast as the lead. top notch. Russel T Davies is a god.

foxinsocks · 03/01/2007 20:47

The SJ adventures are a new series for CBBC where an investigative journalist (Sarah Jane who was in Dr Who in the 70s) joins forces with a girl (a neighbour) to fight against alien forces. They screened a special hour long first episode of it on BBC1 this last weekend.

Not sure when it starts on CBBC. Dd enjoyed it and I thought it was quite good (given its intended audience).

DumbledoresGirl · 03/01/2007 22:39

Oh wasn't that a beautiful thing when Jack came back from the dead at the end and Owen faced him! I wish I could rewind the tape there a few times.

binker · 04/01/2007 12:24

smittenkitten - agree with the Jack/Jack kiss being very sexy - I even dreamed of it last night - ooer ! love John Barrowman...

binker · 04/01/2007 12:25

I like the Ianto/Jack relationship too...uh oh,am I a fag hag ?

MrsBadger · 04/01/2007 14:09

Don't worry binker, you're not a fag hag (actually there are a few MNers who write this kind of boy-on-boy romantic fiction for fun... I shan't out them without permission but there is a lot of it out there and some of it is very good reading.)

And do rent Brokeback Mountain as soon as possible, you will love it.

PeachyClair · 04/01/2007 14:14

Don't give a damn if the sex is gay or straight, just too much of it full stop imo. Just not necessary to the plot. Assuming of course there is a pot (haven't see New Yar one yet)

bran · 04/01/2007 14:19

Has there actually been any gay sex on screen? I only remember kissing and allusions to gay sex. Oh, actually there was Tosh and the alien, but apart from that it's mostly been straight sex. I've quite liked the general flirting, kissing etc going on, but I really would have been happier not to see so much of Owen doing it, yeuch.

Iklboo · 04/01/2007 14:19

I reckon John Barrowman scrawls on the master scripts

"And the Cap'n Jack snogs this bloke. And THAT bloke. And ALLLLLLL the blokes mwah ha ha ha haaaaaaa!!"

Twiglett · 04/01/2007 14:36

snurk

binker · 04/01/2007 16:00

Owen - curiously unattractive...
MrsBadger, are you referring to Fan Fiction ?
