Such a wonderful show. I think it wonderfully demonstrates the internal struggle that a person of faith has. The dichotomy of their their spiritual self and their.........

Who am I kidding? I'm only watching it because the lovely James Norton is in it. Such is my (non spiritual) devotion I'm even willing to tolerate Robson Green.

Selfless that's what I am!

Trying to avoid spoiling for others but did anyone find the end of tonight's episode a bit Hmm? I mean how's that going work in for a vicar in the 1950s?

thecatfromjapan · 06/04/2016 22:48

Yes. I see heartbreak, difficulty and angst ahead.
I really like the curate bits. I'm a bit embarrassed about that because posters up thread are a bit scathing.Blush

Fiderer · 07/04/2016 07:29

I love Leonard - don't be embarrassed cat Grin

It was on last night so I think anyone wanting to avoid spoilers would also avoid the thread.

Agree that a vicar in the 50s could never be together with a pregnant divorcee but am happy to suspend belief for the sake of the vicarage.

Loved the lines "Chins off the floor" Mrs M Shock

And at the police station "Knee trembler's only a shilling" and Leonard answers "That's very kind but I've just had my lunch" Grin

ProfYaffle · 07/04/2016 09:19

I agree with you all, Leonard is fan but the ending surly can't work out Confused

KurriKurri · 07/04/2016 19:00

I love this - even though it's totally daft, and I'm not keen on Robson Green. It's 1950's, vicars, jazz clubs, frocks - what;s not to like?

Also in my mind James Norton looks a bit like my late Dad when he was a young man.

Dad.

Lovely photo Kurri - he does have a look of JN. Obv can't say any more as he's your dad and well, um,

I don't mind Robson Thingy - what else has he been in? Was going to ask why so many don't like him but won't cos I like my Grantchester bubble of 1950's enjoyable tosh.

mrswhiplington · 07/04/2016 20:02

Robson Green played a porter in Casualty many many moons ago. Also in Soldier Soldier with Jerome Flynn (Ripper Street), can't remember names of the other programmes, has played a copper or two I think.

I love Leonard too. He seems so innocent. Hope he finds happiness in next series.Smile

KurriKurri · 07/04/2016 20:07

He was in a show called Wire in The Blood - he played a psychiatrist who helped the police catch serial killers. And I think he was in Waterloo Road for a while.

I actually don't mind him - he sort of always plays himself though Smile

Twinklestein · 07/04/2016 20:38

Jimmy in Casualty, Tucker and Garvey in Soldier Soldier (can't remember which was which).

diddl · 07/04/2016 21:20

I also like Leonard & think that Al Weaver plays the part really well.

Bloody Amanda-piss off & leave him alone!!Blush

That was ridiculous.

Fiderer · 09/04/2016 06:51

It was the last episode of the series I've just realised.

Am more concerned with Leonard's love life than Sidney's tbh.

Also Mrs M wouldn't have kissed that tall bloke on the lips in front of the others, surely? Though I might have

KurriKurri · 09/04/2016 12:40

Did we see the transition from Mrs M being a bit cautious and taking it slowly to public kissing? (And who is that bloke? - I think I have missed a bit of the story line !)

I'm more concerned for Leonard too - but really pleased that he saw that guy for what he was and hadn't got together with him -he'd only have been hurt. I want to shake Sidney for hankering after Amanda - she's twerp. The other woman was much nicer (Margaret ? - the police one) and the German woman last series. He's an idiot.

KurriKurri · 09/04/2016 12:42

I love that they show the Cambridgshire countryside - nice to see that instead of just Colleges and the city.

Fiderer · 09/04/2016 18:44

Countryside is lovely

Did Mrs M have a "near thing" with Tall Man in S1? He seems familiar. But I watch loads of English telly crime & often the same people crop up. Nicola Wotsit from Spooks was on 2 at once, I think a bit of my brain fused with all the confusion.

Look what I picked up at the library today :-)

Grin at that. Have they got The Wall?

Am annoyed there were only 6 episodes. Things I like seem to be so short & other stuff I never watch is on 8 times a week for 13 years.

ChoccyJules · 12/04/2016 16:18

No wall, it's focused on the books rather than the programme but I might still have an extra peek at certain buildings next time I go into town.

AugustaFinkNottle · 17/04/2016 13:06

In the episode that featured Gary's appeal, am I right in thinking Amanda had a supportive letter from the Home Secretary? If that's the case I don't understand why he wouldn't have been reprieved.
