Might just need to tune in to see how Joey gets on. Not fussy on Chris Evans so wasn't planning on watching new show, but you gotta love Joey!

Love this

"What car do you drive?"

"A Mercedes, a Porsche, a Ferrari, a Ford. A couple of scooters..." Grin

It looks like Chris Harris (motoring journalist) is joining the cast, too. He was in a photo Chris Evans tweeted tonight. He can definitely talk and drive at the same time and would bring some motoring credibility to the show, so that should hopefully balance Evans' attempts at comedy...

I wish they'd signed up Sabine Schmidt - the German woman who totally nailed the Neurburgring(sp?) show by driving a van around it a few years ago - she put old JC in his place and out drove him to boot.

She was ace.

Umm, she didn't drive a van around the show she drove a van around the Neurburgring Blush

Most Top Gear fans wouldn't care if the BBC got Jesus Christ to co-host - they are waiting for the trilogy to get going on Amazon Prime. LeBlanc is not enough to make me watch the new show.

I really really like Matt Le Blanc. I think he'll be a great addition to the show. I know most people will think of him as Joey but whenever I've seen him interviewed he comes across as really down to earth- I recommend finding his interviews on the Graham Norton show!

Mind you, I can't stand Clarkson, Hammond and May so I'm probably not the best person to ask!

the horror of Chris Evans Grin

Now ain't that the truth.

Rorty I'm one of the old Too Gear fans who was getting increasingly irritated and pissed off with the old trio. I'm not sad I don't have prime and I'm really looking forward to the new set up. Change is good.

I am going to watch both. I don't think the new BBC one sounds that great but you never know.

Clarkson has been grinding my gears (did you see what I did there?) for years, he reminds me of my ex's overbearing, arrogant, opinionated, self-worshipping stepdad.

Hammond and May disappointed me by standing by the bullying git.

May tune in and give it a fair chance, I'm one of the few people I know who actually quite like Evans, I think he was a bit of a nob when he was younger, but seems to have grown up a fair bit now ... and I love MLB!

It does irritate me how people are saying it's crap before it's even been aired, I appear to have the whole of Mystic Meg's family tree on my FB timeline at the moment.

It might well be crap Grin It might be ok, or absolutely brilliant. It will be interesting to see which it is.

Oh I love MLB!

Chris Evans......less so.

I don't know what it is about Chris Evans that's so irritating. I'm sure he's a very likeable bloke.

Maybe it was the Billie thing. Or that he sometimes looks like he's trying just a bit too hard to be zany.

Odd, really.

Not normally bothered about tg but I seem to be in the minority in that I love ce & mlb!! (Especially in episodes). Can't wait, when does it start?

I can't stand Christ Evans. I'm hoping that MLB wll eclipse CE and see him off.

CE is all "me me me". He never listens to people. He reminds me of a person at a party who might ask a question (in between their own monologue) and when you reply, they just spend the whole time waiting for you to finish talking so they can speak again.

On R2 he just cuts people off mid sentence, and has his gaggle of sycophants screaming with laughter in the background at everything he says. I love TG but not sure I can stomach CE.

MadameDePompom · 05/02/2016 11:58

He probably thinks of himself Christ Evans!

I think MLB is a great idea but it's the sort of show that hang on the chemistry and banter between the presenters (or at least the old one did). So we won't know if it works until we see them all together.

I don't mind Evans and you do need at least one experienced presenter. And one who's available, and had some credibility in the sense of an interest in cars.

regenerationfez · 05/02/2016 13:15

I don't watch TG, and CE boring on incessantly about cars on Radio 2 really turns me off, but I might give this a go. I like MLB, but I also think this whole'ooh look what a rebel I am' act from Clarkson and his talentless cronies really pisses me off. He behaved atrociously, punched a colleague and behaved like a diva. People work really hard behind the scenes for a fraction of what he was getting paid. They dont deserve to ge treated like shit. Hammond and May are personality free without Clarkson and they know it. That's why they left. I really hope the new TG is a hit.

I am actually looking forward to both shows to be honest. I cant wait to see Matt LeBlanc doing his thing, I love his humour and how he was in Episodes. (I cannot believe that he stuck to the script there). I think he will be ideal to "put CE in his place",if you know what I mean. As soon as dates for old TG are announced , I will be signing up to Prime .

Top Gear is sold all over the world - and Chris Evans is probably not that well known outside of the UK. I can totally see that's why MLB is such good casting as Friends was shown all over the world! I've seen him in interviews and he comes over as warm, funny and very likeable - looking forward to seeing him in this.

I would have preferred Phoebe.

I thought this was a joke when I first heard it on the radio. I couldn't imagine he'd be into cars. Shows how wrong my impressions were. Good luck to him I say. I haven't really watched much Top Gear but I'll certainly be tuning in to see how he does.

Chris Evans went up in my estimation when I saw him talking about Wogan with so much sincere respect and regret.

genius casting.

i imagine the bad-tempered racist bloke who got fired is furious.

MLB has a real chance of reinventing the role.
