Anyone watching?

OP posts:
Ineedtimeoff · 02/11/2015 21:28

absolutely suitable viewing for 16 year olds

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 02/11/2015 21:28

yes if ds was 16 I would allow him to watch it and discuss it with him

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:29

I wonder whether they've used oral sex so that the teenagers might think it's a lesser offence.

Arcadia · 02/11/2015 21:30

Misunderstanding?!

Ineedtimeoff · 02/11/2015 21:31

if you kiss a boy then it automatically means that you want to have sex?? WTF??

5madthings · 02/11/2015 21:31

Ok I will Def watch it with him then. And I can judge if bits of it are suitable for ds2( 13) or save it for when he is older at least.

This is the type of stuff they need to be covering in Sex education.

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:32

Can't stop saying it - that boy with glasses really needs to have someone talk to him about consent.

OP posts:
Notimefortossers · 02/11/2015 21:36

It's really messing with my head

Ineedtimeoff · 02/11/2015 21:36

Why do they have someone on who has been falsely accused of rape? We know the stats about sexual assault and the poor conviction rates for rapists. Yet again the onus is being put back on victims.

Here we go.... stranger rape is worse!

Arcadia · 02/11/2015 21:37

They keep saying rape is such a strong word, and yet can't seem to spot it!

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:39

The blonde girl has terrible boundaries.

Nobody's mentioned the fact that he actually stayed behind at the party - I was very suspicious of that from the beginning.

Ineedtimeoff · 02/11/2015 21:39

Did Tom believe that he had consent? I'm not sure if he believed he had consent or not. Perhaps he thought he had a right to sex and that what he was doing was not too bad. He probably did think he had consent for all the reasons the kids said before.

spritefairy · 02/11/2015 21:39

I think rape between friends, spouses and ex's is so taboo. We have been taught that rape is a stranger attacking a woman, pinning her down and then forcing sex. Maybe beating her as well. Nice to see teenagers learning that things is rape too

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 02/11/2015 21:40

what a shame

we have to remind them as if they were not already very much aware that there are a few women and men who have lied about being raped

feels as though they are trying to give a balanced argument

Angry
ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:40

I don't think they did believe he had consent, but rather that he believed he had the right to do what he did.

OP posts:
MILdesperandum · 02/11/2015 21:40

I don't think it even crossed his mind whether he had consent or not, he was still perhaps drunk and wanted sex. Completely in the wrong but I don't think he stopped to think whether she was consenting or not

Arcadia · 02/11/2015 21:41

Why did they show that shot of him looking at someone's cleavage?

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:43

It was her mouth. God.

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:44

Thank god for text messages, eh?

spritefairy · 02/11/2015 21:45

Now lets see what Blondie says..

velmadinkly · 02/11/2015 21:47

I'm watching it and I'm so angry, not only for all the comments that pp have said, but also for the lunacy that they are portraying that the case went to court.

My dneice was raped last year, the full on bone fide, beaten up, gagged and dragged into bushes job and the fucking CPS or whatever they are called said there wasn't enough evidence to warrant it going to prison, so I can't see how 'oral sex' would be allowed to go to court, unless I'm missing something.

Maybe it is 'good' that the girls don't think it is rape, because in real life, from my family's experience, nothing would happen anyway, so let them carry on that thinking that rape doesn't hapoen if you 'put up and shut up' or do it when 'you can't be arsed'. At least it would save them the heartache and trauma of the realisation of what has happened.

I obviously, don't mean it that way, but it's making me so angry. It's also making me scared for my DD, who is only nearly 7, but I dread to think that she might be in this situation in 10 or so years time and she will just assume that it would be her fault.

ImperialBlether · 02/11/2015 21:48

The blonde girl from Liverpool doesn't know what she thinks - she's all over the place.

OP posts:
timelytess · 02/11/2015 21:48

I watched the first part and found the teenagers' attitudes absolutely shocking.

No-one seemed to care that she might have been too afraid to say no, shout, fight, or make a fuss. They accepted his right to orally rape her because she was there. Reminds me that my mother was right with her 'no sleepovers' rule.

spritefairy · 02/11/2015 21:50

Sorry to hear that velma..Flowers

Arcadia · 02/11/2015 21:51

The real problem is the criminal burden of proof being so high and the fact it is a crime that is so hard to prove, usually no witnesses etc.
