CALLING NIGELLA FANS

jenk1 · 06/12/2006 12:54

she,s on tonight at 8pm on BBC2

Nigella is back in her kitchen at a time when the nights are drawing in and most of us are up for a bit of extended kitchen work. As always Nigella's mantra is that cooking should be fun, if it becomes stressful then you're not doing it right.

In these three pre Christmas programmes Nigella lays out her philosophy for not only coping with but actively enjoying

I was cooking dinner while this was on, but DH was watching it drooling.

Don't mind really, I would rather that than say, Jordan.

It's off to Jean Louis I go (the site might be out of stock but store mightn't be?!)

did anyone see this tonight?

I want to make her poussins, spare ribs, cous cous, crab cakes in fact - everything!!!

Does she have a new book due out cos she was a bit vague with her ingredients.

DH loved it as well, wonder why?

I think that all the recipes are on her website link - at least they seem to be so far!

Here you go the website again!

You know that chocolate christmas cake, that is my normal one

jenk1 · 13/12/2006 21:42

she's becoming a parody of herself, but it's highly enjoyable

Does nobody else get cross with the completely impractical 'last minuteness' of it all? Who in their right minds decides to whip up the cream for pudding just before serving it. Personally, I would do stuff like that ahead in the afternoon and spend the time in the evening chatting with my mates. Maybe I am anal, but I am much more comfortable with as much forward planning as is practical, esp if its a special Christmas dinner like in this week's show (and cooking poussin is pretty special in my household!!)

BoingBoing · 15/12/2006 18:57

I think she kept talking about preparing ahead, but it did all look a bit last minute as well. Hmmm. I am also a big fan, and she cooks the way I do (sort of).

My only problem with the programme is that it MUST HAVE COST A FORTUNE. I'm sure the cost of catering that party would have fed a family of 4 for 6 months. Still, I'm only jealous as I wasn't invited for all that fab food.

xmasplumtartmeistergeneral · 15/12/2006 18:58

we did mulled cider - big success.

I lol at her, although I love it all really. The sneaking down in middle of night with satin dressing gown (shouldn't really call it a dressing gown, undersells it somewhat). And the casual making of chorizo (or whatever) soup in morning with alleged stinking hangover! Love it!

BoingBoing · 15/12/2006 19:01

Yeah, how much do we believe that she was half cut when she popped out of her poussin supper to rustle up pudding? All great fun though, and I wish I looked that good in my dressing gown!
