I was surprised at how cheap some of the tickets for les mis are. Mine was £24 ( moderately restricted view) up in the gods but you could still see everything. If I lived in London I would go once a month!

YY to RC's Stars bikeandrun, there was something moving about the way he sang it and for the first time ever I just wanted to give Javert a hug!

And yes, London theatre prices are surprisingly accessible. If you're willing to sit in the gods you can see names like Judi Dench and Kenneth Branagh for as little as a tenner.

Im nowhere near London im thinking of taking dd to the harry potter studios for her 18th and maybe getting the train in to see it go to a matinee

Mrsjayy · 24/08/2015 08:34

Well because i had only seen the film and I didnt know Javert jumped i gasped in the cinema i felt really sorry for him

Javert's death is pretty spectacular in the stage version now - the show had a bit of a refresh re costumes and set pieces a few years ago. If you go for a Wednesday matinee then I'd recommend just turning up at the theatre rather than booking tickets in advance. You won't have to pay a booking fee that way and more often than not they'll sell the good seats fairly cheaply. I've done that for other shows and got dress circle tickets for upper circle prices.

Mrsjayy · 24/08/2015 09:43

I also give out a little sob squeak when he gives gavroche his medal poor Javert was just trying to do his job.

A bit risky in school holidays though, we had cheap tickets and were hoping for a cheeky up grade, but it was completely sold out. Still amazing even in upper circle.

As a fan of Les Mis, I had to abandon watching it on TV as it was just awful! A musical needs leads who can sing! Russell Crowe wasn't Javert in a million years and killed it!

The chap playing Javert in the west end atm is absolutely stunning. He got a standing ovation when we went last time.

Javert is infinitely more interesting than Valjean. He is such a flawed, tragic character.
