I've come on here to ask the same thing. Found it by accident whilst ironing, missed the beginning bit picked it up easily. Got a feeling it will get difficult to watch.

adrianna22 · 20/07/2015 21:33

I'm watching. I have a feeling too thesurrey.

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:34

I think it might be a bit 'sanitised' in its depiction of disability, it's not quite ringing true.

adrianna22 · 20/07/2015 21:36

I really feel for the dad. sigh. I really feel for both of them.

firesidechat · 20/07/2015 21:38

What sort of disability? Parents or child?

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:39

Dad is losing his sight and mum has a muscle wasting disease - they have a baby and social services are assessing them. No answer on whether the baby has inherited any conditions.

thesurreyyouth · 20/07/2015 21:42

Is there a reason why the parents aren't rallying round, doing the washing etc so Tom can focus on caring for baby & mum? Did he insist they could manage?

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:44

Yes that's weird I thought and also where are the carers?

OP posts:
firesidechat · 20/07/2015 21:45

Good job they didn't come to check my parents out 50 years ago then. Both of my parents are blind and bought up 3 children perfectly well. In fact better than well.

Are there other problems?

ashtrayheart · 20/07/2015 21:46

I thought that. Even in today's climate ss would have put in some kind of care package.

adrianna22 · 20/07/2015 21:48

I am shocked that there is no care package...oh wait! I think the dad keeps on refusing the help. sigh

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:48

The loss of sight and Mum uses a chair and is severely physically disabled.

firesidechat · 20/07/2015 21:48

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:49

Based on a true story

ashtrayheart · 20/07/2015 21:49

It's based on a real life case I think

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 21:55

Not sure slating their own parents is a great idea - surely family support is important?

I found it very moving

Having worked in this area - I wish the services pictured were as helpful for those parents with mental health or learning disability issues

Many of whom have their children removed who could cope given the right levels of support

TheFirstOfHerName · 20/07/2015 22:22

Ruth Madeley was very good.

SouthWestmom · 20/07/2015 22:27

I loved the SW Belinda - thought she played the role really well
