Oh no now Dogs is out shame. 13-11 in final set and was always going to struggle serving second.....

BagelwithButter · 02/07/2015 20:52

Oh dear, it's really pretty sad. Hopefully, he'll get his mojo back like Fed and Murrary, as others have mentioned.

I always wonder if Slam winners who haven't had to beat Nadal, say, because he's already out, feel their win is slightly lesser in some way. I know they've beaten loads of other people along the way - just musing

BagelwithButter · 02/07/2015 21:04

Oh yes, we've got the black armbands on, it's always sad when a champion can't seem to play his best. Yy Stan, Roger or dare I say it, Andy to win now.

I'd like to see Troicki go a bit further as well. Pity about Dogs.

Out most of tomorrow so can only record BBC1 & 2 and catch up in evening, some great matches, esp Heather. Really hope she does well.

Raahh · 02/07/2015 21:06

DogsSad

It upsets me that as far a the Beeb (and the Andrew Castles of this world) are concerned, Rafa's Wimbledon career is defined almost solely by his defeats. And they are so gleeful each time they mention the names of those he lost to. Because they went on to have massive careersHmm.

Ignore the finals he was in, the fact he won it twice. On a surface everyone (himself included) initially thought he couldn't play on.

I really, really hope he can have a much better next 6 months. He has nothing to lose, hardly anything to defend.

VAMOS

Raahh · 02/07/2015 21:08

And Stan to win the tournament for me, now.

and GO HEATHER!!!

TroelsNextCampaignManager · 02/07/2015 21:08

yy Bagel - I would love Heather to win tomorrow, but appreciate it's not likely!

TobikkoRoll · 02/07/2015 21:09

Oh no! Am out but have just checked the results I can't face the highlights and Mac gloating over Rafa's loss Sad

I'm sorry to say it to you guys, but I'll be cheering on Joke-oh-vich from now...

TobikkoRoll · 02/07/2015 21:11

Yy Raahh, it does feel that the Beeb is consistently biased against Rafa...

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:12

Poor Dogs. Sad

I will be WILLING Heather to win with all my might.

I don't think you can say that about other players and Rafa, Bagel.

We all know Wink the wins perhaps don't mean as much but I guarantee any player would say a win is a win. You can only play whose in the tournament.

I would argue all day long Fit Rafa V Recovering Rafa, but I have to concede you can only take whose playing on the day.

Do you honestly think Novak would have beaten a Fit Rafa last month at RG ? Or would Stan have won the Aussie had Rafa not been injured (and in tears on court) ? Course not.

But I'm biased anyway !

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:14

Oh, Tobikko I thought you had taste ! Grin

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:16

COMPLETELY agree with Raahh, re the Beeb.

OP posts:
TobikkoRoll · 02/07/2015 21:17

Well, no Rafa, no Deliciano... what's a girl got left? Wink (Can't stand Fed, he's too much of a smooth operator.)

purpleprincess · 02/07/2015 21:18

Oooh a Djokovic fan...how interesting but please pronounce it properly. Actually don't think Mac has gloated. Has been talking more about how well Dustin played and all the serving and volleying...

Some of you may recall my what to wear dilemma on Saturday and mentioned that I had ordered purple t shirt (v cheap). Well it arrived today and is definitely blue and not dark purple as mentioned on website!

Raahh · 02/07/2015 21:21

yy- re the Aussie- I've said many times I think that loss/win affected both players. The niggle in Stan's mind that a fit Rafa would have won, knowing that people think that way. And Rafa not knowing if he could have done it, if uninjured. There were so many 'what if's'- both benefited from players retiring in matches, Stan got a W/O in the 3rd round...

That's why I was so thrilled for Stan at RG- it was a proper victory. A really solid one, with no questions to answer.

I am a MASSIVE Rafa fan (if you can't tell), but I get nervous every time he plays. I had no illusions about this tournament- just hopes- and RG was always going to be a big ask, given his year.

I just hope he finds something to make things right for him. To boost his confidence. And it might not be on court.

Raahh · 02/07/2015 21:22

I am waaay too invested .Blush

I need a break too.

Think there is room on Rafa's boat?Grin

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:26

Oh my goodness, purple that's really very poor, specially for a shop such as JL.

Tweet them & complain !

STAN ? Tobbiko ?

Please pronounce Djokovic properly ?! There's several ways. Were you not around the year we called him Djikdock ? Grin

More often than not, I call the players by their first names. Surnames scream 'old school-master-ish' to me.

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:27

Yy, Raahh I'm coming !

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:29

Stan's RG win was bloody fantastic !

OP posts:
TobikkoRoll · 02/07/2015 21:33

Stan's shorts put me right off...

Joke oh vich is just a joke (ha!?!) I like the sound of Djikdock though Grin

Have I missed a Beeb last send off Hewitt interview? I hope they've done one, he's been a dedicated fighter etc. I've been away, so might well have missed it, just managing to catch up on the highlights programmes (loving Clare's outfits).

purpleprincess · 02/07/2015 21:34

raah agree with everything you said about Stan at the Aus open and RG.

Tobbikko what about ?Tsonga or Jo and his Willy as I prefer to say...

I'm now looking on the JL website for that t shirt but can't find. I also ordered a duvet cover and some undies for dd which got sent elsewhere and have now been lost....think they are losing their touch!

purpleprincess · 02/07/2015 21:44

Gonna try and calm down a bit now by watching Hampton court flower show and then mock the week.....

Flowers Brew

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:45

That's bad for JL, purple. I'd be firing off a curt email.

Stan's shorts at RG did look like pj's, well his whole outfit did, but he's got naice white ones for Wimby !

I haven't seen anything in tribute to or to honour/say thanks to Lleyton. At Queens they had a presentation and gave him a replica trophy. Pretty poor of Wimby really. Bet they don't let Roger or Andy leave losing in the first round and just say 'bye, then'. Angry

Djikdock was a bit naughty. Blush

OP posts:
TobikkoRoll · 02/07/2015 21:46

purple naah, the current French lot don't really fo it for me, but if you had said Leconte... now he carried a good racquet Grin back in the day (I was v young and impressionable, acceptable excuse?!)

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:51

I've got the dog programme on channel 4+1.

I'm going to Aldi tomorrow morning. I think I'll buying some comfort foods to stuff & console myself with watching Wimby next week.

Need some more easy dinners too ! I'll probably buy far too much salad stuff then it'll all go off cos it will be cold next week !

Hot salad recipes, anyone ?!

MrsVamos · 02/07/2015 21:52

Haven't you seen Jo-Willy's feet ? Wink
