yy- re the Aussie- I've said many times I think that loss/win affected both players. The niggle in Stan's mind that a fit Rafa would have won, knowing that people think that way. And Rafa not knowing if he could have done it, if uninjured. There were so many 'what if's'- both benefited from players retiring in matches, Stan got a W/O in the 3rd round...
That's why I was so thrilled for Stan at RG- it was a proper victory. A really solid one, with no questions to answer.
I am a MASSIVE Rafa fan (if you can't tell), but I get nervous every time he plays. I had no illusions about this tournament- just hopes- and RG was always going to be a big ask, given his year.
I just hope he finds something to make things right for him. To boost his confidence. And it might not be on court.
