Missed the beginning - are they living on that island alone? What are the kids going to do when they're teenagers?

DustBunnyFarmer · 29/06/2015 21:25

Have they got kids with them?

wankerchief · 29/06/2015 21:25

No kids, just them And the dogs

cosmicglittergirl · 29/06/2015 21:26

Sub Arctic Sweden, a couple from Wales. He took a train up there. They live in one room! Looks cosy, but limited.

SwedishEdith · 29/06/2015 21:28

I've missed a chunk as well. Looks so cosy though.

The limited food would be hard, tinned carrot and peas for months would wear thin

eyebrowsstillfurrowed · 29/06/2015 21:31

looks like a death wish!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/06/2015 21:33

I wonder if they've read Dark Matter (ghost story set in the Arctic).

susiedaisy · 29/06/2015 21:34

Just started watching forgot it was onAngry

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2015 21:34

I was wondering if he'd find anyone who'd gone somewhere cold. Makes a huge difference having to heat yourself and not be able to grow much. I bet the reason they don't have a eond turbine driving a water pump is because it would freeze.

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2015 21:35

Eond = wind

DustBunnyFarmer · 29/06/2015 21:36

Thanks all for the round up of stuff we've missed. For once I feel less irritation as they haven't dragged their kids into it and that part of the world is actually very pretty (if harsh) at that time of the year. The pristine, silent forest really is fab - we've been cross country skiing in Finnish Lapland. Agree that a winter of canned veg would probably do my head in. If the veg is can, surely they can branch out into sweetcorn, spinach etc.

SwedishEdith · 29/06/2015 21:36

Wonder what it's like in the summer? Does being in the Arctic Circle mean that there is there always snow? (Wondering if that's a very stupid question) They do have a constant supply of wood and water (snow) though.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/06/2015 21:36

Yeah, I thought that Bike.

DustBunnyFarmer · 29/06/2015 21:38

Holy shit! You wouldn't want to be ill, elderly or infirm in this environment. Definitely one for child free, adventuresome couples.

SwedishEdith · 29/06/2015 21:38

They can pickle stuff and smoke stuff. The Scandinavian diet makes sense now.

Shenanagins · 29/06/2015 21:38

Bet Kevin had a helicopter on standby!

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2015 21:41

Ta da!!! Helicopter is here....

TheSpottedZebra · 29/06/2015 21:42

There's not always snow in the forest. They talked about the 2 months per year when they can gather berries, mushroom and some veg.

TheSpottedZebra · 29/06/2015 21:43

Ah, as that was posting, they talked again about the weather.

These 2 are a perfect match, aren't they!?

TheSpottedZebra · 29/06/2015 21:45

Ooh, and I like that she speaks Swedish. Did the other people learn the lingo I wonder?

Probably Mr Angry didn't. English is an official language of Belize, but it's not spoken that well down south.

SwedishEdith · 29/06/2015 21:45

They're not that cut off either - near(ish) to a village. It doesn't feel as far away and dangerous as the other ones so far.

OP posts:
SwedishEdith · 29/06/2015 21:48

Ah, 2 children, Skype.

OP posts:
wankerchief · 29/06/2015 21:49

Left his kids. 'Breaks his heart no seeing them' not enough to go home Hmm

cosmicglittergirl · 29/06/2015 21:49

So he has kids. Quite the decision to move so far away and without easier contact.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/06/2015 21:49

Ooh I am cross now. 'Richard's children are his life, he Skypes them twice a week'. Hmm
