I must say I was surprised at some of the best places esp no 9 !! best places to live

EEwwww, Phil in a vest?!

Perish the thought.

The sight of that and Sophie's voice all in one show is enough to put off anyone.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 11:58

Kirsty wants to stay home w/Bay, as in her son and not a chesnut-coloured horse w/black feet, tail and mane.

MorticiaRed · 27/10/2006 11:59

Indith - I was wondering where Hull was too! Nothing has changed so dramatically here since last year. The other places must have really deteriorated to get us completely out of the Top 10!!! BTW I love it here - the vast majority of people are wonderful. Unfortunately, these aren't the people that make the headlines! x

franca70 · 27/10/2006 12:00

haven't watch it.
we live in what is considered a lovely town. lovely area. ideal for young families.
we'd move to london tomorrow if we could.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 12:06

All those shots of Phil tooling around in his wankermobile: the Range Rover sport .

Skribble · 27/10/2006 12:10

Ok I will let them off if she is with baby. I though scotland did OK out of this.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 12:12

Yes, the only slagged off Glesga, but everyone does that .

Skribble · 27/10/2006 12:14

Glasgow I didn't see that in the worst 10 I didn't watch the programme.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 12:15

It wasn't, but it was highlighted for the area of it that has the lowest life expectancy for males in the entire UK: 53.

And for Scotland's having more obese children in some areas than America.

expatinscotland · 27/10/2006 12:15

It wasn't Shettleston, but a neighbourhood that starts w/a C. Sorry, I don't know Glasgow.

zippitippitoes · 27/10/2006 12:16

their criteria are rubbish from all points of view

you would make money buying in the worst places if that is your itnention of course mosrt people just want to live somewhere

also quite a bit seemed related to exam results....which for a fair number of people are not even relevant

and they are based on statisitics rather than subjective opinions which is what most people experience when they lvie somewhere.

and sophie was awful why did she have to keep talking with head tilted back at a quirky angle was it to hide the bags under her eyes inside those nasty white legings and showing off horribly i actually thought she looked older than kirsty

JoolsToo · 27/10/2006 12:18

it's a bit daft this programme. It depends what you want from your chosen location and the reasons are myriad.

AnguaVonUberwald · 27/10/2006 12:21

Only saw the last few minutes. that Islington is 5th worst place to live. Yes it has some very deprived areas. I certainly dont' live in one of the good bits. But its also lovely, and has brilliant shops, places to go, eat etc.
Only planning on leaving as we can't afford a house here.

Nothingbut - some of us love London. and its where the jobs are!

harrogatemum · 27/10/2006 12:37

I missed it - does anyone know if its being repeated?

geekgrrl · 27/10/2006 12:59

I live in Harrogate and really like it, too. It's a beautiful town and the schools are excellent.
Wouldn't know about the nightlife - but isn't nightlife crime-ridden and alchol-soaked wherever you go?

MwaHaHappyDaddy · 27/10/2006 13:01

DW and her family are all from Hackney. She can't imagine why it hasn't always been the worst.

And Newham is just awful.

gegs73 · 27/10/2006 13:12

I actually fancied Phil for a moment in that vest normally doesn't do much for me.

foulmoonfiend · 27/10/2006 13:13

Koshka - agree with you. Also rather unchild friendly I think, and very little is spent on the residents - it all goes on keeping the conference trade happy. Harrogate is a marvellous place to live if you are wealthy IMO, or cater for the conference trade! (though it is very pretty etc).

foulmoonfiend · 27/10/2006 13:16

actually I'm not being very fair about Harrogate I suppose, I'm just skint and depressed and in a panic about 2ndary schools (we live near the tokencrap one with no possibility of moving near a better one
And there are no cheap shops!

incy · 27/10/2006 13:16

gegs73 I think that was what Phil was trying to achieve - don't give in to him - there was no need for him to be featured wearing a singlet vest !

OP posts:
Molesworth · 27/10/2006 13:17

Agree with Islington - I was there less than a year, it was horrible!

gegs73 · 27/10/2006 13:23

Hahah more Phil in the vest. I even called dh in from the kitchen. Must resist, must resist.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/10/2006 13:26

Ha! I grew up in the Number One place to live - parents till live there - I have known for 36 years that is the best place in the country!

Sad to say, I moved from very near the second best place nearly 2 years ago, having lived (near) there for 5 years. No wonder I still miss it!

EnidVorhees · 27/10/2006 13:27

yes of course, eel cuddling, that's on the f*ing curriculum down here

ffs

geekgrrl · 27/10/2006 13:35

aah yea, the dearth of cheap shops in Harrogate annoys me, too. We need an Aldi or a Lidl here.

What crap school do you live near?
