Well that was very satisfying. Thank you Andy (you will reading this after all)
One of the things I like about him is his refusal to "see" gender. I know there's the obvious Amelie thing, but he seemed to choose her after a lot of weighing up of pros and cons of different people, and decided who would suit him best regardless of anything else. Likewise, when I received his SPOTY trophy and Martina presented him with it, he freely and unselfconsciously described her in his interview as being probably the best player ever. And he mentioned in his speech just now when talking about coaches Lindsey Davenport coaching Madison Keys, showing that he takes notice of the women's game as well, and gives credence to it, which seems like a small thing, but with a sportsman of his standing, really isn't. I really applaud all this, yet to him it really doesn't seem like a big thing - it just is. I wonder if it's partly the result of Judy having been such a strong influence on his early career, or whether that is simply trite?
This very conversation may have been had a million times here. Sorry if so!
Berdych is very easy on the eye I think, but looks better in darker colours
