I don't know why she feels her human rights are being abused!

Very irritating how lowlife like Dionne always bang on about their 'human rights'. Glad she was charged. Hope she lost her job too - who'd want a thug like her looking after their elderly loved ones?

ChoochiWoo · 14/01/2015 10:52

i think thats a bit excessive although she did behave like a lout

Vivacia · 14/01/2015 19:45

"Lowlife"? Sounded more like she'd not had the same opportunities as most people.

Nancy66 · 15/01/2015 11:36

so what? Loads of people don't come from privileged backgrounds. Not a reason to go around beating strangers up.

Vivacia · 15/01/2015 11:50

I didn't mention privilege. The usual opportunities of a normal start in life - an education, able parents etc.

Nancy66 · 15/01/2015 11:56

how do you know? That wasn't mentioned. It was touched on with the other girl but not Dionne.

Vivacia · 15/01/2015 12:16

Labelling someone as "lowlife" is an attempt to dehumanise them.

These were teenagers, in care, one was a teenage mum, one was estranged from her mum. They didn't talk about careers and university, they talked about minimum wage jobs and about having been difficult teens.

I'm not saying they are without blame, I'm saying we should have some compassion.

Nancy66 · 15/01/2015 12:19

I did have some compassion for the younger one. Not the older who seemed to blame everyone but herself.

She dehumanised herself by assaulting six strangers on a night out.

Sidge · 15/01/2015 12:20

The girls presented very differently though.

Mercedez came across as a troubled young woman, adrift with little support who acknowledged she has made some bad choices and did seem truly remorseful. She accepted that being held in custody for 12 hours made her think about her actions and her future.

Dionne didn't do herself any favours and came across as a cocky little gobshite, quick with her words and her fists and seemed to think being locked up was everyone else's fault and not her own. I hope when the cameras were off her she might reflect a bit.

24hrsago · 17/01/2015 16:31

I agree with what Sidge has said. I think that Mercedes would probably take a good lesson from her custody & not re-offend.(Whereas the other girl Dionne, I suspect, would delight in bragging to her mates about it afterwards)
Whoever said that she wouldn't get a job in McDonalds with a criminal record- well I know that at least 3 of the staff at our local McD's are on day release from the local open prison- McD's actively employ ex (&currently incarcerated) prisoners.

ilovechristmas1 · 17/01/2015 16:46

saying about the job and criminal record that was me

well Mcdonalds is the exception then

most well known names,Lidl etc wont even let you past the initial on line application when 90% ask if you have criminal convictons

its true i know from personal experience, trying to get a job with one is very very difficult, even a caution effects applications

having a conviction even means you are turned down for insurance eg home/contents

all the big insurances wont insure, the only one i found was the Co op and that depends what the conviction was for and the pemiums eflected this

there are some specialists that will insure depending on conviction and if they will the premiums reflect this

many people do NOT realise what effect a criminal conviction can have on their future

OP posts:
WitchesGlove · 18/01/2015 14:14

I've had about 6 different jobs alongside colleagues who had criminal records. No one cared, if they were for minor things.

Many companies don't ask and don't care or check.

chockbic · 18/01/2015 14:17

Interesting to see how women are treated versus men.

Quite a bit of bitching about the women and oh silly man to the domestic violence suspect.

ilovechristmas1 · 18/01/2015 16:30

many companies do care, why on the online application do they ask and when you disclose they say your application cant go further,i have a criminal record and have experienced it many times

also many people dont realise that their household insurance is void if someone in the house has a record eg lodger,daughter/son

having a record effects many things in life and think its a pity it's not more widely known

try getting insurance from the top 20 insurers (except Co-op) you wont

OP posts:
toldmywrath · 18/01/2015 20:12

I agree Ilovechristmas1 I used to underwrite personal insurance, so I did realise that about home insurance (&indeed motor insurers ask about non motoring convictions as well)
I can't recall exactly (long time ago!) but I know that some convictions are regarded as spent by virtue of the rehabilitation of offenders act & don't always need to be disclosed (esp. motoring ones)
I expect that job applications are more specific in what they need to know depending on the type of job.

ChoochiWoo · 20/01/2015 22:06

Anyone watching this weeks? dunno who to believe Confused Confused

Oblique27 · 20/01/2015 23:19

Re this week's, I agree....I was inclined to believe the parents were completely being picked on for part of the programme by the accusers but quite a complex case when the police unpicked it all ( last comment was the most accurate of all!

ChoochiWoo · 20/01/2015 23:51

indeed felt very sorry for barbara but hmm; she must know more . especially if hes wanted in hungary also.

Nancy66 · 21/01/2015 12:46

last night's was a weird one.
The accusers were clearly just on the make but the couple they were accusing were unpleasant as well.

all I kept thinking about was that the woman had: a one month old baby, a 12 month old baby and a 22 month old!!

ChoochiWoo · 21/01/2015 14:18

must have missed that didn't know her kids were that close together Shock Shock
