i've watched it now. still slightly a-quiver, tbh. john barrowman is so blimmin' handsome. very good altogether, the female lead is excellent.

BTW, I think I've solved all my weaning problems. I'm going to scatter BabyDragon's meals on the kitchen floor and let her slug around hoovering them up. Cut out the middle bit where I put it on a tray in front of her. She was under there this morning chewing on dried up sweetcorn.

TheBlairAitchProject · 12/10/2006 22:52

that is great news. did i not read that vvvqv did much the same thing, in all seriousness?
i just let dd graze on the crud that her father drops on the floor and of course completely fails to notice... crumbs and crisps and the like. and dustballs, of course. we have a look that passes between us when i say 'what have you just eaten off the floor' and she at 10 months somehow communicates 'mmm, salt'n'vinegar...'

Stargazer · 12/10/2006 23:11

Blair - what? why? More importantly, how have you managed to see Torchwood already? I'm so - do tell! I want to see it too.

cremolafoam · 12/10/2006 23:13

is it just me - but why have they mad torchwood for adults????????- dd is hanging off me begging and pleading tht she can watch it

TheBlairAitchProject · 12/10/2006 23:24

it didn't seem terribly adult, tbh, not on the basis of the first episode anyway. and i get quite lot of dvds early through work, it's pretty good.

OP posts:
vitomum · 12/10/2006 23:24

what is this 'torchwood'??

TheBlairAitchProject · 12/10/2006 23:29

dr who for grown-ups. sexy cap'n jack harkness (john barrowman in the lead, using his american accent rather than his glaswegian one, vitomum).

TheBlairAitchProject · 13/10/2006 00:30

ooh, you jammy sod. How did you get that? Don't tell me, your, ahem, "postie", ahem, "delivered" it? And his, ahem, "round" took about 3 hours to complete?

Marina · 13/10/2006 10:40

cremolafoam, no you are not alone. I have had six lively discussions with ds about Torchwood already. He has offered not to inflict Robin Hood on us if only we will let him stay up. As he is seven I am standing firm on this

HowwwlidaymumsMurderWeekend · 13/10/2006 10:40

So how suitable for a 13 year old and ditto for 9 year old? My life is going to be hell if they can't see it!

Marina · 13/10/2006 10:44

Fine for 13 year old I'd have thought and highly questionable for 9 year old.
Ds loved without fully understanding (thank heavens) JB's innuendo-drenched performance in Dr Who but I have a feeling he and Russell are going to max it up in Torchwood...

Fauve · 13/10/2006 10:52

I'm in the same position with a 12 year old and an eight year old. I suppose we'll have to watch it ourselves and see - but would be interested to hear what others on here think. They're such Dr Who fans that it'll be hard to keep them off Torchwood. (Made worse by the fact that one of their favourite neighbours has a small part in it My first question when I found out was "Do you know John Barrowman?" )

LiliLaTigresse · 13/10/2006 10:52

Marina, I have had the same discussion with dd (also 7!) who is a big Dr Who fan, but I won't let her watch it....
I will let her watch that bizarre Robin Hood again this week though, rather unimpressed so far!!

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 13/10/2006 10:54

Am very at your having seen it already, BlairAitchProject. Very much looking forward to it.

Marina · 13/10/2006 10:54

And they would publicise the whole thing hugely during half-term, the rotters
Am OK with saucy salaciousness tbh, but need to check out the scary/violent factor. I think the Robin Hood is dire on all fronts

LiliLaTigresse · 13/10/2006 10:54

Marina, you need to order the dvd of 'Fauteuils d'Orchestre' through work and test it at home before you can recommend it to people, it is very nice indeed
