I don't know about the birds! I'd assume that's just a filming thing (like they aren't around) rather than a conscious choice on the part of the show runners.

There was the owl Daryl shot a few seasons back.

There have been birds. Definitely. Someone ate an owl in one episode. Poor owl. :(

It is just humans who turn - it's a virus that is causing it all - I guess it's just a virus that affects humans.

Let's face it - a biological weapon that only worked on cows or foxes would be of limited use. And my money is on that being at the root of the problem - a bio weapon that went wrong (much like in Survivors).

The rivers must be teaming with fish. But when Darryl & Beth were on the run together, they had to eat manky mole snakes!
Or were there fish and I missed that episode as well?
I seem to recall in one of the earlier episodes Andrea and her sis were fishing.
But there's been no fishing since, that I've seen.

Cheerful - exactly. I did think that they were making The Governor a sort of Randall Flagg character - Darabont has strong SK links - but no, sadly not.

There were lots of fish early on, one of the overrunnings (possibly the one that did for Amy and Carol's husband?) was possibly prompted by the pong of cooking fish but I suspect a lot of the waters are now tainted thus making the fish potentially...

Maybe fishing is too risky? Plus the equipment needed and then the prep needed and what with fish being fucking rank and all... :o

I think that Bill Hicks fella isn't long for this world. They seem to be giving him a big build up which I notice they do before letting the walkers chow down on them. I reckon Abraham feels pretty stupid after putting so much faith into him. Abraham is probably really evil. I bet rosita gets knocked up with tainted ginger zombie baby.

I must admit I don't understand why they don't all top themselves.

Apart from Darryl who can obviously live in the wild with no trouble. Bless him.

I must admit I have to agree, Apart from Rick who has Judith and the young psycho boy to live for. But the others?
I'd want to live if Darryl was in my camp mind you.
I'd live in constant fear of getting pregnant though. Judith is a liability.

Judith probably carries the secret of the cure. But how can that secret be unlocked... I'm not sure I'm looking forward to 'the walking dead guide to dissection of living subjects'.

Although maybe Abraham was bitten and hasn't turned and his super Ginge genes hold the secret. That'd be fine. At some point though - maybe the second to last series - they will have to focus on that. The quest for the cure has to be the end game for the show. They haven't shown much interest in forming new societies, and the walkers are too numerous to allow that sort of storyline to develop. And there aren't enough people anyway - in Galactica they had 40k+ people and were concerned about the viability of the species, even if there was no outside threat.

I hope this isn't the last series.

Getting pregnant wouldn't be as much of a risk when you are suffering from stress, malnutrition and lack of calories--you'd probably not be as fertile after a year or so.

Hmm good point. Prob no periods as stress /malnutrition so no risk of pregnacy either

I would be terrified of getting pregnant but I'd still have those filthy trousers off of Daryl given half a chance. :o

I just watched aftermath. The reviews arent great but i enjoyed it. :)
