My husband and always say Token will be dead next ( phrase stolen from South Park ).. Its like they have a token black character and but can really have only 1 at a time. Its very very very odd .
There are countless Mimes on google about it.

EatSleepRaveRepeat · 10/02/2015 09:53

*memes

CrispyFern · 10/02/2015 10:33

I would have preferred whatshisname to go instead of Tyreese, the one with the bow and arrow. I'm bored of him now. See, I can't even remember his name! Daryl!

susiedaisy · 10/02/2015 10:53

One in one out issues aside.
I really enjoyed the episode.
Tyresse bored me tbh he wasn't cut out for the zombie apocalypse world he was a big softy who faffed constantly. So he had run his course as far as I was concerned.
There's no room for weak people only the hardened would survive the rest would be a liability IMO

Boysclothes · 10/02/2015 10:54

This was more noticeable when they had only one black character. Now with michonne, sasha, priest, noah and tyrese in the group it's as likely a black character will die as a white one. If they had a couple more Hispanic characters it's probably proportionately pretty representative of the US!

Boysclothes · 10/02/2015 11:03

The group is 33% black characters, 6% Asian and 60% white.

US demographics are 72% white people, 12% black and 4% Asian. Hispanic people dont seem to be counted separately so I've made rosita white for this post!

So they're not doing badly on representation.

Helgathehairy · 10/02/2015 11:17

Why did tyreese seem to be focusing on the photos of the twins in Noah's house?

The truck with the body parts was weird. I was a bit confused as to why the person in the car was a zombie as it didn't look like a bad crash.

PfftTheMagicDraco · 10/02/2015 11:24

I think the qualms about representation were more related to the specific area. The show started out in Atlanta, or nearby. The proportion of black characters in the show was not proportional then. However, I don't have a scooby where they are now. I don't know how far they've gone, or whether they are just walking around in circles.

The memes are my favourite part of TWD, I think Grin

CrispyFern · 10/02/2015 11:25

Georgia is about 30% black and 60% white, where they are, so they're quite accurate actually.

PfftTheMagicDraco · 10/02/2015 11:37

They are quite accurate now, the recent season has seen a larger influx of black characters. The early seasons didn't though - one black guy slot, and it was one in one out. Saying that, I'm not really watching it for its accuracy, given how a zombie show isn't rooted in reality Grin

TessTackle · 10/02/2015 11:41

It agree Tyreese had run his course.
I felt he'd become a hindrance if he stayed any longer.
Sad for Sacha though Sad

I want more carol in the next episode!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/02/2015 11:50

Well I didn't see that coming. Poor Tyreese.

Yes... Why a van full of torsos? I'm assuming they were the other halves of the bottom halves at the village.

I'm wondering this too. Are we about to meet another group of loonies? The damage to that wall looked more than a group of walkers could cause. They've driven a long way from where they were, they're probably about to encroach on the turf of another loony gang of people.

MellieFitz · 10/02/2015 12:17

Apparently it's Andrew Lincoln's voice on the radio. Will have to listen again.

MargotLovedTom · 10/02/2015 12:19

Tyreese was like a black, bearded Benny from Crossroads down to the woolly hat; I shan't mourn him. I'm just disappointed they missed an opportunity for a bit of slapstick mayhem in the back of the car if he'd turned while they were driving Wink.

I'm also agog at people lusting after tramp Rick, I spent the whole episode thinking how ill he looks. Get that scraggy beard off forthwith!

MargotLovedTom · 10/02/2015 12:25

Didn't notice the radio voice being Andrew Lincoln's. it sounded like a report of atrocities being committed in Somalia or Rwanda or similar? Thought it was another of Tyreese's hallucinations, tying in with what he said to Noah about his father making Sasha and him face bad news.

Parts of the episode were very dreamlike. Not sure if I liked that: I think I prefer the wet your pants bits like when the walker was inches away from gnashing Tyreese's face to bits.

IdaBlankenship · 10/02/2015 12:47

I actually thought at the beginning of the ep, that is was going to be Glenn who died. When he climbed up the wall to look over the fence. I thought that he was going to be shot by a sniper or something. So rather relieved it was Tyreese instead of Glenn.
I liked the hallucinations, but I was waiting for Karen to show up especially when he saw them all restored to health in the car.
It was a clever double bluff at the very start of the ep, to show Tyreese's burial and make you think that it was Beth's.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/02/2015 14:47

Yes it was Andrew Lincoln's voice on the radio, I noticed that.

That's a good point about Karen, I wonder why she wasn't there?

MadeinSouthWest · 10/02/2015 15:18

Did anyone notice the skeletons on the ground too? I think that is the first time we have seen skeletons. Not sure what (if any) significance I am seeong there though.

MellieFitz · 10/02/2015 18:04

I suppose it's been a couple of years hasn't it? Bound to be skeletons around, most walkers must be pretty rank by now!

I need to listen to the radio broadcast again. As someone up thread said, it's basically a retelling of what the group has been getting up to so far.

BingoBonkers · 10/02/2015 18:25

I have been raving about the show to people and encouraging them to watch it and then when we watched it last night I was saying "But this is not a typical show" and felt a bit cheated as it had a very different feel.

Walkers would not have burnt those houses down. No way.

I think that Tyreese was looking at the twin photos realising that Noah was a twin and odd that he never mentioned it and that losing a sibling would be hard let alone a twin due to twins supposedly having a closer connection iyswim?

A friend had let slip that Tyreese was a goner and I have been expecting it every episode tbf. Still sad that he went as he was a gentle giant.

One friend's theory is that Morgan is responsible for the half walkers?

DontOpenDeadInside · 10/02/2015 19:13

Wouldnt Morgan be going to DC? Thats the last he knew where they were going. Unless he got ahead of them somehow (they said they're only 100 miles from dc but not sure if where they were in that episode is on the way or out of the way)

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/02/2015 20:24

No weren't they Noah's twin brothers? Wasn't there one dead on the bed and the one that bit Tyreese came from behind the other door, you could see shadows shuffling about underneath it.

TessTackle · 10/02/2015 21:46

Yes, they were Noah's younger twin brothers. Hence one biting him and the other being dead on the bed.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 10/02/2015 22:25

Poor Noah. Sad

(I do know it's not real, honest.)

MargotLovedTom · 10/02/2015 23:10

Yes, Noah said earlier on he had twin brothers. How did mini walker manage to open the door then? His motor skills must've been pretty accomplished for a zombie Confused.
