I think it's becoming a real problem that they haven't managed to get out of Georgia in over 2 years.

ApocalypseNowt · 24/11/2014 18:44

Hate all this 'mid-season break' nonsense. And to be fair it's NOT a mid season break if the rest of it isn't on till next year or something daft. Humph.

Anyway, I think hope Beth will die, probably due to an infestation of termites brought on by her oh so wooden acting.

hopefulpuffin Can you tell me if Daryl takes his top off? That wouldn't be a spoiler as such....

RabbitOfNegativeEuphoria · 24/11/2014 19:10

The break happens in the middle of the season. Hence, midseason. They stop after November sweeps, because in the US ratings go mad in December, then they pick up again for February sweeps. This is how they sell their advertising. A few years ago the typical pattern for US TV shows was one or 2 new episodes, then a repeat or two, then one or two more new ones, and then all new in November February and May (if it was a 22+ episode season). It made narrative really difficult, hence many US shows didn't have long story arcs, they were much more episodic. When HBO really started making headway with continuous storylines that didn't get senselessly interrupted, the model changed a bit. The first 2 seasons of Lost were done in the traditional US way and it really messed with the narrative - the last 4 were done as basically two or three mini seasons and it worked much better. Most dramas with continuing narratives now go with this approach instead of the old patchy one.

I too hope Beth will die. Although she had some nice knitwear when they were all living in the prison.

McGlashan · 24/11/2014 19:20

Ok I've caught up now so I can rejoin the thread. It was torture there for a bit trying not to click.
I read Reedus plays Darryl like he's a virgin- just totally inexperienced hence the will they, won't they, do they don't they shennanigans.

I hope they don't kill off Carol but will all those flashbacks and philosophising I'm worried. Glen and Maggie are free to go whenever.

I think the mullet man will prove to be really clever and useful even though he hasn't any official qualifications.

Rule number one of the apocolypse appears to be 'Never get on a Bus'. It always ends in diasaster despite the fact there are no other vehicles on the road.

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 19:26

I think they have a midseason break because they are hoping that the people who have only just heard of TWD (because of the buzz currently surrounding it) will rush out to buy the first couple of Seasons, so that they can catch up - and then they can watch the last Season as it's going out.

They're doing it with Mad Men.

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 19:27

They make the optimum amount of money by doing it this way.

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 19:28

McGlashan,
buses are BAD news! Grin and tanks

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 19:29

Talking of tanks, Shane is starring alongside Brad Pitt in Fury. He's really good as well.!

MamaPizza · 24/11/2014 20:20

I assumed mid season breaks happen so people me can watch Christmas films and not worry about ongoing series watching.

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 20:50

Walking Dead! Walking Dead! Roll up! 10 minuts to go Grin

can you tell I'm excited

IdaBlankenship · 24/11/2014 20:57

Oooh I'm excited! McGlashan I'm with you on the whole Daryl is shy / inexperienced thing. I can't imagine he's a virgin though, I mean he would have still been hot even before the ZA Smile

Rabbit you seem to have a bit of a knitwear fetish Grin

ginnycreeper5 · 24/11/2014 21:59

What a rubbish episode! Something of nothing Hmm

EpitomeOfFrump · 24/11/2014 22:03

Decidedly underwhelmed! I don't think I have ever been so disappointed in an episode. Next week will have to be amazing to make up for that.

BeyondTheTreelights · 24/11/2014 22:03

Was a bit. Its all just build up to next week though isnt it. Bloody stupid person at the end, wtf did they think would happen?!

McGlashan · 24/11/2014 22:07

Really disappointing. It was just lining everybody up for the mid season finale in a really boring way. Total waste.

Hannahfftl · 24/11/2014 22:24

Jumping on the thread to say did anyone see the person walking behind the cop when he was talking to sasha about the person he knew, you can see someone behind the pillars and hear the footsteps! I'm assuming it was a mess up because sasha would see the person!

Boysclothes · 24/11/2014 22:33

I loved the episode! Really enjoyed the humorous touches and seeing a bit of their humanity again. Plus when darryls hand went in that zombies mouth and his teeth snapped down!!!! I like a slower ep sometimes, not everything can be non stop action otherwise it goes a bit sons of anarchy.

I did notice the person walking between the pillars! Wonder if it was a blooper.

EpitomeOfFrump · 24/11/2014 22:36

I am wondering if it is another double bluff otherwise how would the police in the hospital know their colleagues were being held to ransom?

hopefulpuffin · 24/11/2014 22:37

Glad that others were underwhelmed. I couldn't believe how blah the whole episode was.

The only remotely interesting thing was the reverend doing, well, something.

How did Sasha not see that coming.

Boysclothes · 24/11/2014 22:37

Re watched and don't think rick et al had left yet so maybe it was supposed to be one of them.

susiedaisy · 24/11/2014 22:59

Episode was meh!! Abraham and the mullet are boring me I just dont care either way if they live or die. The Rev is a bit more interesting. He's like a ticking time bomb. And did Sasha really take pity on that cop just because his name was Bob???

JessePinkmansHoody · 24/11/2014 23:14

Oh my! There you are! Couldn't find the new thread on my phone do had to wait for a Monday for it to appear in active convos! I've been without you for weeks I tell you!!! Blush

At the risk of sounding like that annoying bint on Celeb....

Ewwwww. Eeeewwww. Eeeeewww ewwwwweeConfused Those horrid fleshy melted walkers. Ewwwww. I really thought I was largely immune to the horrors of walkers in their various guises but no! These had me hiding inside my dressing gown collar and feeling a little pukey...

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/11/2014 23:40

Jesse where have you beeeen?

Look us up in Telly Addicts. Wink

abigamarone · 25/11/2014 00:57

Ewwwww. Eeeewwww. Eeeeewww ewwwwwee

Is exactly the noise we were making when watching that bit. And the bit where Daryl bowled that skull at that cop's head.

hopefulpuffin · 25/11/2014 01:29

If nothing else, this episode did see a return of zombies and it's about time.

Honestly, though. They're going to have to come up with a better plan to keep the show going. There should be some kind of goal. Clearly DC is out - at least the "save the world plan". Do they start their own "Woodbury"? We've had a variety of bad guys (zombies notwithstanding) but where do our "good guys" wind up?

There's only so much more split group stuff I can take.

I hope by the end of the February 2015 season we'll have a better sense of an end game. Not that I want the show to end, but they can't just keep wandering around Georgia....
