Did anyone watch this?

OP posts:
InSummer · 30/06/2014 21:55

My blood was boiling when that scum bag kept shouting 'don't run' when the dog was chasing people.

Fairylea · 30/06/2014 21:57

Why did she lose her son? I missed that bit.

BinarySolo · 30/06/2014 21:59

She went to prison for something

seasidesally · 30/06/2014 21:59

not sure but she said she was in prison,so could be that,

MamaPain · 30/06/2014 21:59

I cannot work this out, so he clearly isn't the biological father, the youngest is only a baby. How long has he been in prison because surely it;s a bit early to be moving him in. I know he's living next door but he's basically living there too. It's all so sodden irresponsible and just going to lead to another generation of kids who cannot behave decently rage.rage.rage.

misstiredbuthappy · 30/06/2014 22:00

I think social services will be paying a visit. She should of been holding his hand near a busy place,

wahoo just heard kevins back on the market after splitting with his fiance what a catch Wink form an orderly cue ladies Grin

InSummer · 30/06/2014 22:00

She was 17 and in prison so a family member was given custody when he was 3 months or something

seasidesally · 30/06/2014 22:01

its all becoming a blur Grin

seasidesally · 30/06/2014 22:02

some silly women will take him in,they always do

InSummer · 30/06/2014 22:02

I was quite touched when the lil boy put the bottle in the bin when the woman who's meant to be his mother dropped it.

misstiredbuthappy · 30/06/2014 22:06

It makes me laugh how every time they do a programme like this they pick the worst scumbags with filthy houses. Not every one on benefits is like that.

my heart was in my mouth at the dog around the kids.

Helpys · 30/06/2014 22:10

Heartbreaking. However I think it's extremely irresponsible programming. I know dozens of girls like the young ones with the dog and the baby on paper: in real life they are thoughtful, hopeful and vulnerable. I'm sure with a camera stuck in their faces they'd act up like this.
They're also not typical of people on benefits- even sanctioned ones Hmm
Horrid hate filled broadcasting n

seasidesally · 30/06/2014 22:25

i know a few like the girls on the programme, and yes in life they really are like that

but no not all claimants are like that, the programme did show the worst,it's not a true representation but we cannot deny their is an "underclass" that what they are known as

MamaPain · 30/06/2014 22:26

I don't associate their problems with benefits. It is bad programming in terms of anti-benefits propaganda, but my issues with what I saw are unrelated to how they earn their income. I've been on benefits in the past, I still had an immaculate home, and pets and children that didn't run wild most of the time.

Aeroflotgirl · 01/07/2014 22:44

My blood is boiling, where do I start! They all have similar traits in common, they lack responsibility and morals. How do they feel that people have to go out to work every day to fund them. Do they think the government has an endless money pit, no it's from people that work. They cannot have lots of kids if they cannot support them. Something has to be done by the government. Yes cap benefits to 2 kids.

Those two women and the dog called Giro. Put your dog on a lead and pick up it's mess you filthy idiots. It's people like those that give responsible dog owners a bad name. Loosing her child! It was 15 mins before they got help, why did they not phone tge police straight away! No wonder tge child of one of them is in care!

Aeroflotgirl · 01/07/2014 22:46

I was too insummer, what a nice little boy. Yes I can imagine women like these irl, but know nit all benefit claimants are like this. They have scraped tge bottom of the barrel.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 03/07/2014 20:47

Some absolutely disgusting people. Nothing to do with them being on benefits, they could be working and still be scum. SS and RSPCA need to pay a visit I think!
I get that they could be vulnerable, acting up etc but no one should treat children or animals like that.
Also why didn't the film crew do anything? A child's life was in danger - no one knew where he was by roads, water etc!
Fucking hideous.

mercifulgibbon · 04/07/2014 00:56

I find these type of programmes really interesting. You can see how some of them are desperately trying to recreate the idea of a proper family but at the same time are falling into the same traps of the people who raised them. Like the girl with the dog. They can't really afford the dog but it's like it's on the checklist of the 2.4 family. It's sweet in way and kind of sad at the same time.

The things that made my blood boil watching this were unrelated to their income. Things like the child vanishing and no one helping her (although the cynic in me thinks it was staged) and the dog jumping around the playground off a lead. I don't like that kind of selfish behaviour.

Benefits can't be capped to a number of children because benefits are intended to help children, not punish them. I think this is something a lot of people don't understand. They see the benefits going to the parents and get angry and lose sight of the fact these children didn't ask to be born and still deserve food/shelter/clothes.

I would be interested to see a programme showing what life is really like on benefits for the people who don't fit into the stereotype that programme makers tend to promote.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 04/07/2014 08:07

I agree the things that annoyed me were nothing to do with income

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/07/2014 17:57

finally watched, always seen to be a week late

things that bugged me, the dog off a lead in the park/on the road, and not picking up the dog poo Angry and the 3yr who went missing - they didnt seem bothered and i did wonder did the camera crew notice he had gone/know where he was

getting a tattoo instead of paying half of gas bill, always smoking

why did they get another dog/puppy

was lovely to see the toddler pick up his mums bottle and put in the bin

horrible seeing the old man struggle to live off his money, thats not right :( plus why dont the council move him and he would have £40 extra a month if not paying bedroom tax

puzzled over the boyfriend, she said he had been in prison for 3yrs, therefore baby wasnt his,but i assumed older child was - when he was shown he was black and kids not, so neither child was his, so where/who was their father/s?

dumped by fiance after 6 weeks, poor man

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 20:22

The episode is set in Hull tonight. Always a delight to see the hometown represented by people who do not reflect on the majority! But such is channel 5 and shows about benefits.

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 21:04

Argh. How do these people not realise they are being taken advantage of?!

Bigglesfliesundone · 07/07/2014 21:09

Bloody hell, they're really pushing the 'benefits' scrounger agenda tonight!

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 21:10

Lots of focus on people having babies without jobs.

God, I would love a benefits programme like this that looks at WHY they are on benefits. How society has let them down at a basic level and stuff. Instead of ripping them apart.

Lighthousekeeping · 07/07/2014 21:13

I agree. It's Hull again on beauty Queen or Bust tomorrow night.
