I am such a wuss the fairy lights in my back garden look like white walker eyes so I can't go into the kitchen and have closed the living room door!

I thought this episode (S4E4) was really good.

Yes,very different to the books but apparently Coldhands will be in Season 4 so I guess next episode.

The bits with the baby scared me. It was interesting seeing more of the Others which I guess they renamed because of Lost.

A lot to think about but I'm glad we saw Ser Pounce though.

Something I missed but I read online that the meat the Black Watch Mutineers were eating was probably Jeor Mormont. I thought I was watching The Walking Dead for a minute.

Glad to hear its a good one, I have been on holiday so haven't seen it. Just put the Dts to bed and going to guzzle wine and scoff Chinese before catching up.
I have seen a few bits on fb, looks like they are stretching Bran's story, the last episode is called the children, so it will be interesting to see how they do it.

Just watch it. Loved it, especially the others at the end. Although I found the baby crying hard to watch. First spoiler for book readers, the show really is catching up with the books. I know a lot of people thought that's what happened to Crasters son anyway, was that the great other at the end ?

The Others? I thought they were White Walkers. Did they change their name? Rebranding?

Report
ThreeLannistersOneTargaryen · 30/04/2014 21:53

And where do Wights come into it?

I had to forward the baby crying.

I find Daenerys and her slaves so dull. I remember all the Mereen stuff
in the books was really tedious.

She was my favourite female character in the first book or two but as soon as she got her army she became as whiny and entitled as her brother.
She's also quite a crap leader- freeing all those people with no contingency plan. Isn't she basically followed from city to city by this swarm of refugees with no food and nothing to do?

The others and white walkers are the same. Wights are people who they have killed and become frozen zombies.

Oh my linky didn't do what I wanted it to do. Sad
Yes Dany gets a bit annoying to say the least, I used to love her chapters and in a adwd I was tempted to skip them.

I agree - the show starting to deviate a lot from the books now. I liked in the books how Sam felt really bad not being able to tell Jon Snow that Bran was alive as that would have given Jon comfort.

Loved Jaime and Brienne's parting scene this week - both really sad to let go of the other but not hugging.Really dislked Margaery and Tommen - seriously creepy grooming - when she went to kiss him goodnight I thought she might go for his mouth - I found it uncomfortable to watch.

In the books Tommen (who is younger than in the show) just hangs out with her a lot and she gives him puppies or kittens and plays with him a lot.

I'm glad others also found the Mereen chapters boring. They really dragged for me too.

Arya What did happen to Craster's son? He was changed into a zombie, right? But beyond that. Any theories?

None really Zen, the baby did smile up at the scary dude before he turned him, so hopefully they are nice to them.
I suppose they are just building an army, I wonder why they do what they do with Craster's sons, and if they do it with other wilding children. There could be some sort of magic within the sacrifice other than them just taking a child ?

By why I mean, how did they come to the arrangement and are they able to procreate amongst themselves. I know they used to have women others, but I wonder if they are diking out like the children of the Forrest.
I bet there are lots of theories out there, I will have a little lurk when the dc are in bed.

I've always had a soft spot for Sansa. A lot of people find her weak and whiny but I think she's a lot more complex than she is given credit for.

Considering she is basically responsible for her father's arrest (seeing as she told Cersei of his plans of leaving) that she then sees him executed in front of her very eyes, that she is then abused and tortured by her fairy tale prince and that her whole family is murdered and she has no-one to turn to at all, I think she does pretty well to stay alive.

She's a very realistic character and I'm waiting for her to betray and kill creepy evil Littlefinger (am shocked that some fans think they make a good couple!)

anonacfr, but she had Tyrion to turn to! He is kind and intelligent and would have done everything in his power to protect her, but she rejected him for not being the romantic knight of her dreams. She still has a lot of growing up to do, IMO.

Report
anonacfr · 02/05/2014 15:04

I agree that she has a lot of growing up to do. She is 14 and utterly alone and Tyrion is much older and a Lannister. He is comparatively kinder than the rest of them but she was living in fear of violence rape and death because of his family.

Tyrion wants to protect her out of guilt but he is not as gentlemanly in the book as he is in the series. Cersei was also kind to Sansa until she betrayed her- it makes sense that she would not trust anyone after that.

Bizarrely the only one she should have trusted was The Hound.

I thought the latest episode had much better editing. It seemed to flow better.

I need to watch it again though.

It was good, I suppose, a bit meh really. I didn't come away buzzing or annoyed. A bit of a setter upper for the coming events.
I take it there will only be the one battle at the wall ? Maybe 2 would blow the cgi budget.
I was a bit Hmm at Lyssa revealing that she poisoned Jon Arryn. The final few chapters in that book were jaw dropping, I don't think it will have quite the same impact now.

I'm a bit annoyed with all the changes, it feels like too many. Why would lysa need to know who Sansa is? And letting robin in to the secret is ridiculous. As if littlefinger would go to all that trouble to conceal Sansa identity then reveal it to an unpredictable child. Clunky plot device ahead?

Report
Whathaveiforgottentoday · 07/05/2014 16:03

I thought Lysa knew straight away in the books but I agree that letting robin in on the secret is just daft.
However, I thought the additional visit to crasters has actually worked quite well and it all seems back on track again.
