Without giving anything away, can someone say how far behind we are in the UK? Just so I know how long to avoid any reference to this awesome episode Smile

AntoinetteCosway · 25/03/2014 22:03

I thj

AntoinetteCosway · 25/03/2014 22:03

I think we're 9 or 10 episodes behind.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 25/03/2014 23:01

We have the same problem in reverse for Downton Abbey; we are several months behind in the States. I have come across some spoilers from clicking on MN threads.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 25/03/2014 23:23

Shock Whaaaaaat? Are we that far behind? Was it the season finale or something? Don't answer, I don't want to know anything...

northender · 26/03/2014 07:03

Just checked, we're 7 episodes behind

anonacfr · 26/03/2014 11:32

It wasn't the season finale as far as I know the season is 22 episodes and this was episode 15.
Stay away from the internet if you don't want to know what happens!

Saying that it's a shame that a lot of shows like Game of Thrones, 24, Walking Dead etc are only one or two days behind but some aren't. In the age of google, Twitter, Facebook, entertainment blogs etc it is SO hard to not find out what happens on TV shows.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 26/03/2014 11:52

Definitely not the season finale. They showed scenes from several upcoming episodes. It is going to be very interesting.

overthemill · 26/03/2014 14:03

the episode shown on USA TV this sunday was episode 15

aliciaflorrick · 27/03/2014 07:38

I just came on here to see if anyone was watching at US pace, I have nobody to talk to about it but oh my goodness. This season has got to be the best one yet in my opinion

Anyone else thinking kalinda's accent gets more English every week?

overthemill · 27/03/2014 10:27

Yes I think she reverts to English accent when kalinda gets excited. Don't forget she's meant to be Canadian I think? But we don't know her place of origin. Her nasty husband was English.

Am loving this season but I am a due hard and just love all of it!

SconeRhymesWithGone · 27/03/2014 12:26

But her mistakes when she makes them are to pronounce some words with a non-rhotic accent which would be incorrect in the great majority of Canadian accents too. But I love her character. I just have a thing about accents. Generally speaking, British actors are better at American accents than the reverse. Scottish and Irish actors seem to be especially good at American accents, perhaps because of the common rhotic factor.

anonacfr · 27/03/2014 13:08

Did you think Matthew Goode (prosecutor) did a good American accent? I know a lot of fans were disturbed by it.

Kalinda had a couple of moments in the last episode where she sounded completely British. There was one specific scene specifically... Grin

anonacfr · 27/03/2014 13:08

Aliciaflorrick feel free to PM me.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 27/03/2014 16:55

Goode's accent was too self-conscious at times and some of his vowel sounds were sometimes overdone. It's hard to describe.

The best is Hugh Laurie in House. In all the years I watched that show, I only heard one word, "placard" pronounced in a non-American way.

overthemill · 27/03/2014 17:57

I assume Matthew Goode is attempting to break into the USA market - he's a good actor though so maybe just not enough voice coaching

SconeRhymesWithGone · 27/03/2014 18:02

I just watched the episode again. I think he is a good actor; I am sure the accent will improve.

anonacfr · 27/03/2014 19:01

I thought he had a great rapport with Will and his last scene was great. I read that his accent was distracting because too 'vague' (it that makes sense).
I have to say to me it was a hell of lot less noticeable than Kalinda's semi American accent.

AntoinetteCosway · 27/03/2014 19:50

Ooh, I love Matthew Goode, I'm looking forward to him cropping up.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 27/03/2014 20:06

The vague comment makes sense. One reason that Alan Cumming's accent is so good is that it has regional undertones: east coast mixed with Midwest.

I also don't understand why they can't sometimes use their own accents. We do have many British expats working in the US, including lawyers. In Eli's case though, I don't think he would come across as quite so Machiavellian with his own Scottish accent; it would seem too friendly to most Americans.

overthemill · 27/03/2014 20:59

I love Eli! And his accent is very good I think. He's totally nailed it.

DustBunnyFarmer · 27/03/2014 21:00

Poor Eli and his unrequited love for Ugly Betty. Apricots!

northender · 27/03/2014 22:23

Next weeks episode looks good

Nancy66 · 28/03/2014 07:22

I've also seen the big spoiler, pretty hard to miss if you look at US sites.

I read that Kalinda deliberately has a strange accent to maintain the mystery surrounding her character: is she American, is she British, is she pretending to be either/both.

ArtisanScotchEgg · 30/03/2014 14:29

So the judge that Jackie saw off - what was the actress in when she was younger?
