Old thread

Thanks everyone for the company. Makes up for DH gently tolerating/rolling his eyes when I watch Strictly having you all online with me. Smile

Horsemad · 21/12/2013 22:40

It's a hotbed of sex and shennanigans, isn't it?!

HesterShaw · 21/12/2013 22:42

Sorry for crashing the thread on Finals day Blush

TyrannosaurusBex · 21/12/2013 22:48

Oooh, watching a recording from earlier, Abbey put her hand down the back of Aljaz's trousers during the judging of their first dance. Had to rewind to make sure because you could only just see it, but yep, definitely...

JaneEyreTheRedNosedReindeer · 21/12/2013 23:12

The more the merrier Hester

comingintomyown · 22/12/2013 11:24

Watched it this morning delighted they won although I did cringe a bit when she squealing through Natalie and Susannah farewell speeches and Bruce told her off !

Someone told me Bruce is definitely back next year ...say it ain't so

dalek · 22/12/2013 12:00

I know it doesn't matter now but why was Abbey continually over marked throughout the series - including by the normally picky Craig - can't remember her doing a single ballroom dance where there wasn't gapping- her salsa was good but not 40 good!

I know Natalie had training but at the end of the day she was easily the best dancer - none of the other celebrity women could have done her show dance.

LucyLasticKnickers · 22/12/2013 12:02

bruce told abbie to simmer down.

AmIthatTinselly · 22/12/2013 12:48

Oh no dalek I really hoped that this would be Forsyth's last year.

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 22/12/2013 13:25

Tyrannosaurus that was her adjusting his mic.
What a fab final
:)

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 22/12/2013 14:10

I saw Bruce on Alan Carr's show the other day and he was like a completely different person.

comingintomyown · 22/12/2013 14:17

In a good way ?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 22/12/2013 14:20

Yes.

Couldn't be a worse way! :o

Fiderer · 22/12/2013 14:48

I'm watching a programme with Miranda interviewing him - he really loved all the American style singin' an' dancin', think he'd have been happier just to do that.

And apart from a few hammy bits, he comes across as genuinely devoted to what he does and can still ad lib well. They should ditch the autocue on Strictly.

I was in stitches at some of the clips, never really thought he was that funny before.

ppeatfruit · 22/12/2013 17:27

Well I don't know i was on the other thread and thought it'd gone quiet Xmas Grin I've just read this thread !! it was my sunday reading while cooking!!!

Good good good Xmas Grin Xmas Grin I'm pleased Abbs won (yes it looked like her and Aliaz could've eaten each other up !!)

I had an interesting thought and maybe someone who's seen the majority of Strictlies can answer this; do the celebs and pros ever split up during the programme? because I was thinking that if Artem decided he didn't like Nat. he could handicap her couldn't he?

RedPencils · 22/12/2013 17:56

I watched the last show this morning. Loves that Abbey won, she was great. I had a few tears, she was so excited.

Ppeatfruit - they've never split up a couple before. Think there's been a few times when the sleb and pro don't get on, Brendan and Lulu springs to mind. I don't think the pro would ever deliberately scupper their chances though. The longer they stay in, the more likely they'll be on the tour. Strictly is probably the most lucrative gig a dancer could have. They wouldn't mess their chances up for next year.

Horsemad · 22/12/2013 18:40

Having withdrawal symptoms already! No Sunday results show to watch. Sad

birdbrain21 · 22/12/2013 20:15

Horsemad same here! I'm busy catching up on the bbc 1 website reading the tweets and looking at the pictures from last night, not sure what I'm going to do with my weekends now!
I think we should keep this thread going we'll have a strictly party every week and just share videos of good dancing it'll be even better then the real thing because there won't be any sill videos of training and cringy jokes!

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 22/12/2013 21:41

I'm delighted Abbey won. I would have been fine with Natalie winning too, she was the best technical dancer. But Abbey danced with her heart on her sleeve, and drew me in.

I hope they keep on Aljaz, Kevin, Anja and Iveta next season.

Bit of a surprise really that 3 out of 5 pros in semi finals were first timers.

RedPencils · 23/12/2013 09:29

Some of the VTs were a bit annoying but I did love the past winners one.

We've still got the Christmas special, Ian waite's in it and Flavia's back.

Snowstorm · 23/12/2013 09:50

I wonder who got the second most votes out of Natalie and Susannah? Does anyone know? I'd want to know if I was them!

ppeatfruit · 23/12/2013 09:56

Thanks RedPencils I like that it was an all women final because a woman needs to be more skilful when ballroom dancing!! Yes I'm looking forward to the Xmas one (not very keen on E.P. but I LOVE Ian Waite and Flavia.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 23/12/2013 11:09

a woman needs to be more skilful when ballroom dancing

Do they? From a completely ignorant point of view, I'd always assumed the man had it tougher as they had to lead and throw their partner around :o

fussychica · 23/12/2013 12:19

Had no choice but to record the shows as picking up DS from airport. Got in and watched Match of the Day - thanks Gary - told everyone the wife of Peter Crouch had wonXmas Angry - ruined the whole bloody thing. Never crossed my mind watching footie would spoil an entire season of Strictly.

Disappointed with the result - Natalie was a way better dancer but that's what happens when you let the great British public decide!

FrankelInFoal · 23/12/2013 12:32

It is harder for the man when dancing normally - they have to be aware of their partner's position, putting them in the right place for the next figure, lead the figures, be thinking 2 or 3 figures ahead and, when competing or dancing socially, navigate around all the other couples!

I tell my husband that our lessons are the one hour a week where he gets to be in charge Wink
