trucksanddinosaurs Ben said on ITT that he only came on the show to promote his anti-bullying foundation... but I saw a tweet yesterday from Kristina to him saying she'd be very strict with him on the live tour...so I assume he's invested in Strictly for a little longer now!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 28/11/2013 16:16

Ooh good for Ben:)

EvilRingahBitch · 28/11/2013 18:53

Sorry for the flaky link - I was posting from phone so couldn't quite tell how blocky it was - but it does give a bit of a sense of the quality of her action. There don't seem to be any dances from the first three series on Youtube, only a few hand held recordings from those dancers doing the tour, and Jill's Jive on the the Showstoppers DVD.

Johnny-come-latelies will have to take our word for it that Zoe, Denise and Colin, in particular, produced some really fantastic dances.

digerd · 28/11/2013 19:01

I knew my opinion of Ben being nice was rightSmile

ITT tonight with Natalie and Artem. Her American Smooth should be brilliant.
Poor Mark with his bad knees and flat feet doing the SambaSad
Patrick doing the Charleston.
Darcy also on now. "They have to smooth out all those fuzzy edges this week".

CloudOfStarlings · 28/11/2013 22:40

Yes, Denise, Colin & Zoe were all amazing! In fact I've just voted for Zoe as the best female never to win on monkseal's blog :) ...have to say that during her series I didn't have much love for her but I wish I had appreciated her more now cos looking back I can see she was amazing! Love watching her and Ian on ITT, she's so funny. (Still no Claud, but she is the next best thing!)

Also meant to say earlier about Sophie & her husband, I think it's unfair to say she's under his thumb, or whatever. I think they're really sweet and they want people to know they take their marriage really seriously (very lovely article about their relationship here which I think shows she is a very private person)... but at the same time, I think it would have been a jokey/passing comment that he said it was a rumba he was comfortable with - there's no way he's standing in the training room dictating what they can do! Hmm

CloudOfStarlings · 28/11/2013 22:49

Oh sorry, that isn't the article that talks about her being private-
this one is
if you can't be bothered to read it all this is the main quote I'm referring to-

'But when I suggest that Strictly viewers might be expecting an ice queen, since that’s part of the image she’s played with, she's hurt and affronted. “I don’t really play with anything,” she frowns and curls a defensive arm around her knees. “I really think it’s not helpful to think about yourself from a third-person point of view. I have my really good girlfriends I’ve known since I was 11. I’ve got a lot of people I’ve worked with for a long time. Those are the relationships I nurture. I cannot control how people see me.”
She pauses and softens. “I think it’s more that I started out in my pop career in the S Club 7 era. Everything was very shiny and smiley and I thought I should be more you-don’t-have-to-like-me-if-you-don’t-want-to. And I think it was a protective measure because I remember thinking that if I hold some of myself back then there’s still things people can find out about me in 10 years if I’m still successful. And if I’m not, then I go home having kept something personal.” '

Thanks CloudOf All 3 of our adult DCs are on the edges of showbiz and at one time i wanted them to become stars but seeing all the flak and gossip that goes on about even D listers i'm really pleased they're not. I don't blame Soph for trying to keep something back at all.

digerd · 29/11/2013 12:43

I remember Colin and Denise, they were both fab and not trained dancers. I think it was Denise's Rumba I admired the most - she wore a light aqamarin/bluish dress? Think the male judges complained about her feet being stiff, but Arlene said the feet are only 9" of the whole body and the rest of her was lovely.
Colin was a natural but didn't quite have the macho personality of the male winner. Was that the cricketer

EvilRingahBitch · 29/11/2013 12:48

It was Darren Gough, the Dancing Wardrobe. Feel lucky not to have your memory of him unrefreshed

digerd · 29/11/2013 12:54

I have just found Denise and Ian doing that lovely expressive Rumba on You Tube and there are other dances they did in 2004 Strictly
Can't link as all attempts failed Blush, but found it on Google under Denise Lewis on StrictlySmile.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 29/11/2013 13:14

Oh that's a bit mean (although Colin was better). is much nicer than some of the stuff we get now (excuse the Christmas music.)

HarrietJonesPM · 29/11/2013 13:21

Was it Darren Gough who went into his sons school and tried to make dancing cool?

CloudOfStarlings · 29/11/2013 13:30

Colin Jackson should have won.. need we mention what ruined his chances?? Puppetgate! I supported him the whole series until that showdance then even I voted for Darren Gough.. I'm sure Erin regretted it..feel sorry for her that she didn't get a chance to make it right with Austin Healey (who I loooved)

SoupDragon · 29/11/2013 13:35

I've just spent a happy 10 mins or so watching Louis smith & Flavia do their show dance form last year's final :)

HarrietJonesPM · 29/11/2013 13:44

No not puppetgate!

FushandChups · 29/11/2013 13:59

Colin was robbed - ROBBED! I too am still very bitter, he was just amazing and of all the series, he is the one who should have won and didn't. . bloody dummy dance (unfortuantely, I think this is on YouTube somewhere and as I've posted before - his little face when he first comes our proper breaks my heart Sad!)

Clayhead · 29/11/2013 14:26

Every year someone mentions the p word and then I have to sit and cry for a week all over again... Confused

I blame Erin Angry

digerd · 29/11/2013 18:16

Polkadots

Darren was awesome in that Quickstep -wow.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2013 09:43

Soo does anyone reckon that shrieking song from Showgirls is 'good' music ? 'cos I effing don't Grin

Chitty Chitty is not my idea of good music either. I like Good Morning though, anyone think of one they like?

digerd · 30/11/2013 11:19

Chitty chitty bang bang is childish fun.

digerd · 30/11/2013 11:22

Good Morning from Singing in the Rain is nice and bouncy for a tapdance

digerd · 30/11/2013 11:35

Think I liked Natalie's for her American Smooth, but can't remember its name?

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2013 13:13

Yes digerd the music is not very inspiring is it? The staging will probably be OTT again Sad

Interesting discussion with the 3 guest judges in IT2 yesterday I noted that not one of them reckoned that Natalie will win.

AndiMac · 30/11/2013 15:07

Kara was a ringer the year she went in and still won. Who knows the minds of the great proletariat?

RedPencils · 30/11/2013 16:23

I don't normally like a theme week but I love musicals so I don't mind this week.

I love the Dreamgirls song in the film, Jennifer Hudson is amazing. But, I think in the wrong hands like the strictly singers it'll be a bit screechy. Loved the bit on ITT when Natalie was singing and artem turned the music off.
