Sorry meant Patrick's rumba Xmas Blush

SoupDragon · 08/12/2013 07:45

I don't like Natalie because she has had lots of dance training. It isn't fair.
I have nothing against her or her dances really.

Gigondas · 08/12/2013 08:12

I am with soup about Natalie-it defeats purpose of scd when the dancers have some training IMO.

FrankelInFoal · 08/12/2013 08:18

But NewGirl Len was right about Natalie's Paso - there was very little actual Paso choreography in the routine! Most of it was her swishing about with her skirt. Yes she looked good doing it and was obviously in time to the music, etc, but the point of the show is to learn the dance and if you don't use recognised steps you are not showing what you have learnt.

Len is not a nasty person, he's the only ballroom/latin professional on the panel and he knows what should be shown in each dance.

some training is fine, and to be expected from many of the actors and singers who went to stage school. It also makes the early stages more watchable. However, Natalie appears to have had a looooot of training. That, and something about her means that many people feel rather irritated by her.

Well, yes, but it got Abbey a 10 last week......

braveandcrazy · 08/12/2013 08:25

Do people not think that 3-4 months training with a world class professional would bring you up to a similar standard as someone who trained as a teenager, albeit with good teachers?

Of course people like a journey, but at this stage, it's time to sort the men from the boys, and it looks like those on a 'journey' either flag or shine. Susannah has had 2 rough weeks, and Abbey has really pulled through.

I agree regarding the AT, it seems a bit unfair that Kevin had to do it, when there's only been one other so far this series. They get help with the choreography, though, right?

No comments about the result, as I know.

Impomea · 08/12/2013 08:43

Well I suppose Ashley will be going now but it really should be Susannah because he is much better and has a lot more to do with lifts etc.

I loved Abbey and Alijaz but is she really that good a dancer or is it because they are both so beautiful?

Sorry to upset you all but I missed Brucie and I like Anton too Xmas Shock

Animation · 08/12/2013 08:52

Think Patrick should go next. Think he's over rated. Thought Susannah looked quite good actually and Ashley. Susannah also seems to have lost weight - looking very chic.

FrankelInFoal · 08/12/2013 08:53

But the difference with Abbey's Salsa is that it is much more of a freestyle dance. It's what we call "Social Dance" - there are no real rules other than the timing of the music, you can do pretty much anything. At the moment, there is no Salsa syllabus, though I know the ISTD are working on one but that's been in the pipeline for at least 5 years.

AndiMac · 08/12/2013 09:38

Abbey went in the dance-off on a rumba. Ashley went in the dance-off on a rumba. I'm predicting Patrick in the dance-off on his rumba. I think the dance just doesn't get the public that excited, even if it's a good one.

LucyLasticKnickers · 08/12/2013 09:51

who made the mistake in ashley's dance, was it the pro?

birdbrain21 · 08/12/2013 12:27

I think Susannah's dance was actually very good if you watch it without the music you can see there is a lot of good argentine tango moves there (especially considering her pro had never done one before) but the music they were given was totally innapropriate, it's almost like the producers are unhappy she's got this far and are giving her difficult dances with rubbish moves to get her out. She wasn't doing too badly in the swingathon either! I think Patrick should go not sure what all the hype is about him big deal that he's 50 if he was dancing like that at ashleys age the judges would be way more critical although actually they didn't like it this week

digerd · 08/12/2013 15:41

I think Asley will be more disappointed to go than Patrick - at least that is the impression they both give. They will both have had some dance classes as teenagers at stage school and they both have their individual talents. They are so different in build, age and personality.

If Ashley and Susanna are in the bottom 2, I think the judges will vote for Ashley.

birdbrain21 · 08/12/2013 16:00

digerd could be len would cast the overall vote for ashley but did you see Darcey's face when susannah and kevin were voted out the swingathon first I suspect she would vote to save them...

digerd · 08/12/2013 17:42

I have always liked Susanna's performances and her technique with her upper body and arms has greatly improved. Probably Len sees no improvement in her footwork, though, and that AT was unfortunate in many aspects. I felt sorry for Kevin as he was way out of his comfort zone.
I will be sad for whover has to go tonight, but somehow especially for Ashley.

awaynboilyurheid · 08/12/2013 17:57

Thought Susanna was a bit heavy footed tonight but then again not a huge fan , and what was Artem like in the swingathon he really was determined to win, little legs going a hundred miles an hour! no wonder they collapsed at the end ! Len was in a right grump it would be a yawn fest if they stayed in hold all the time, enjoyed Ashley's dance so hope Susanna goes but suspect she might not as judges seem to really like her, really they are all good dancers now

DaveBussell · 08/12/2013 18:06

Ashley does seem to want it quite badly - I get the impression he is used to a bit more adulation than he's getting and perhaps expected to build up a load of female fans and it hasn't really happened. Not that I'm against him at all, i've really enjoyed most of his dancing and his commitment and I will be really annoyed if the judges pick Susanna over him.

I disagree that Patrick is less bothered about going, he is just a very cool, mature (more mature than I realised - 50!!) character. It's a shame that so many people don't seem to appreciate his dancing, I really love watching him every week, even though he's far from perfect he has an innate musicality which gives meaning to his movement and he has clearly put a lot of work in.

The same goes for Abbey. Her looks help with the overall effect but they would not swung it for her if she hadn't had the talent.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 08/12/2013 19:27

Claude and Tess have swapped frocks!!

JaneEyresHeir · 08/12/2013 19:31

Phew! Sophie's safe...

JaneEyresHeir · 08/12/2013 19:33

Poor Ashley: I enjoyed their dance last night. Think Susanna deserves to be in bottom two based on her performance, but she and Kevin get a lot of public votes, so she'll probably be safe.

ilovesooty · 08/12/2013 19:34

So glad Sophie is through. And Abbey deserves to be.

ilovesooty · 08/12/2013 19:35

I think poor Ashley's toast unless the other one's Susanna.

MrsBramleyApple · 08/12/2013 19:37

They sound so flat............. My poor ears!!! Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 08/12/2013 19:38

That was awful wasn't it MrsB. Confused
