Tbf, if I'd had to do that AT I'd probably be pretty pissed off too. Imagine being told you're going to be taught a dance you've never done before, but have seen some brilliant ones. You don't have to worry about choreography, it'll all be done for you by somebody who knows what they're doing, you just have to learn it... and then you get given that.
So you have to smile and be grateful for choreography, song choice etc. that you might not feel that comfortable with, or even like. Also, if you're not entirely sure on the technique, you can't help your partner as much as usual. And if the technique/choreography/music gets criticised, people will still think it's your fault. (Perhaps that's why he was making it so clear he'd never danced it before!)
