Thread four here we go! Link to the last thread here.

So, Natalie's through to next week and we'll see who's going to be joining her in the Tower Ballroom Smile So much nicer than Wembley.

Fiona was robbed...
However, she seems happy enough.

AndiMac · 17/11/2013 19:59

Mark looked slightly in shock to get the majority vote after the first vote went to Fiona.

digerd · 17/11/2013 19:59

Right decision as Fiona went so wrong messing up her soft shoe shuffle which was lovely yesterday. Shame her nerves got the better of her.
Mark was spot on although I thought he looked as if he was flagging a bit at the end.

dementedma · 17/11/2013 20:01

Mark has very dodgy knees hence the lack of bounce, but he does have rhythm and timing and gives it loads of effort.

ilovesooty · 17/11/2013 20:01

I thought it was the right decision. Good for Len.

digerd · 17/11/2013 20:05

If Fiona had danced as well as she did last night they would have put her through. Last night she had a touch of Ginger Rogers in her dancing but that was sadly lacking tonight.

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 20:12

glad mark stayed his dance was better I do like anton doing ballroom he is amazing, Mark will go next week though,

just noticed James Jordan wasn't there wonder why not ?

RedPencils · 17/11/2013 20:14

James has injured his back so can't dance.

It looked like Fiona wasn't giving it her all in the DO. Perhaps she'd decided she'd had enough.

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 20:17

Oh has he poor James I noticed last night but just thought I hadn't seen him , I think Fiona had resigned herself to going,

wetaugust · 17/11/2013 20:19

I think, from what she said, Fiona had decided she'd had enough.

Watching Anton lift his partner was amazing - just so seamless and effortless.

On the Lens Lens bit - They applauded Natalie for putting an extra step into her Charleston but every week people get slated for not dancing the correct steps. I am struggling to understand this. I fear the popularity of Artem may keep Natalie in longer than she should be.

mrsjay · 17/11/2013 20:28

I loved when Anton was dancing when Andrea Rhieu (sp) was on it was lovely

digerd · 17/11/2013 20:53

It was beautiful music to dance to.
Poor James.

RedPencils · 17/11/2013 21:02

Wetaugust - I think she's going all the way to the final. Even if she gets into the DO, she would best everyone else, she's streets ahead.
Assuming, no more injuries, obviously.

HellesBellesThinksSometimes · 17/11/2013 21:23

The dance-off was absolutely as it should be. Love Andre Rieu - they should be on every week. They should be on every programme in fact. Might be slightly wasted on F1 coverage or newsnight but imagine how brilliant countdown would be with them providing the di-du di-du di-du-du-duh

I thought Natalie was bewigged because it would be a travesty to cut off such wonderful hair!

In my considered opinion, anton's head is too large for his body while artem's is too small.

wetaugust · 17/11/2013 21:40

I think you're right RedPencils. And the Artem popular vote could see her win.

She wouldn't be my choice though.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 17/11/2013 21:45

wetaugust, the ten dances have proper written technique for an awful lot of the steps they dance.

Charleston's a bit make it up as you go along less structured, there isn't a syllabus or anything as far as I'm aware, so they can't say "that was incorrect" in quite the same way.

Just caught up.

Think the right couple went for me. I was laughing with delight at Mark's performance whereas Fiona looked like she'd forgotten lots and was really awkward. I haven't warned to her and confess I don't like Anton either, MaryZ. (happy belated birthday btw!)

Really enjoyed Suze and Kev (shivers!) and thought SEB not amazing but better than last week and under marked a tad. Abby over marked. Natalie - great Dane but a bit clunk here and there, not markedly better than Abby or Susanna. Ashley impressed me! It was a great routine and he seemed really into it and held his own dancing beside the male pros. Although I did think ffs, another knee slide, come on Ola!

As an aside, have Ola and Ashley drawn the short straw on the training rooms or what? Look like they're in an underground cabin whilst Soph and Brenda get a lovely big light ballroom for example!

wetaugust · 17/11/2013 23:18

Thanks Polka - I didn't know that.

To me it just wasn't as good or as synchronised as say, DVO's Eygptian or Chris Hollis' Charlestons so really don't know why it warranted a 10.

But I nothing about the technicalities of dance. I'm just a spectator.

OodaresingingoftheDoctorDonna · 18/11/2013 08:50

I don't understand well not unless I'm cynical how the judges can point out mistakes and then give 10s. Craig certainly has a bias towards certain dancers but I agree with his 'to get a 10 it has to be perfect'

V interesting info re the Charleston Polka, thanks.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2013 09:01

So what did we reckon on the Ballroom Blitz then? I was a bit Confused and Sad because they seemed to be taking the piss out of traditional ballroom dancing unnecessarily; notice that the girl celebs were used properly though.

Kevin's dad was just on Radio 2 talking about the kids who were dancing on saturday they were winners of contests from dancing schools all over Britain, I thought they were good!!

Fiona was ready to go but Mark MUST go next week!

mrsjay · 18/11/2013 09:04

I dont think they were taking the piss I think it was a tribute and quite funny I liked it

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2013 09:14

Yes but it would've been nice to have a "proper" group ballroom dance say to the Andre Rieu (sp?) orchestra which should've been on twice instead of boring JLS. (with NO dancers at all Shock) It must've cost the beeb a fortune just to put A.R.'s orch. on once!!!!

AndiMac · 18/11/2013 09:15

I liked the Ballroom Blitz. A pop song, but with proper ballroom dancing to go with it. And I liked the celebs got in on the action. I thought the mock anger at the pros dancing with the celeb's partner was great for the story with the song. Did anyone notice right at the end, Fiona and Ivetta were having words whilst Mark and Anton danced with each other? I was amused.

SoupDragon · 18/11/2013 09:17

I loved the ballroom blitz routine. I don't think they were taking the piss at all.

To a total non expert, Strictly always seems to be untraditional with its use of thoroughly modern music, even if it adheres to the rules regarding the dances. Does traditional ballroom use modern music like Strictly? I have no idea!

mrsjay · 18/11/2013 09:19

I liked that Andi it was funny

SO when are they going to do murder on the dancefloor i have been waiting weeks for somebody to dance to it,
