Uplifting and sad at the same time eh? Realised last night that PT had 2 picies on the screen! The one next to him of him in a hosp bed giving the thumbs up was taken by me on day 4 post-op! - glad they didn't zoom in on it though shows big bandage (on scar - which btw is hardly visible now partic with all the extra hair he's got!) and lots of tubes etc!
I want to know what happened to the 2 people they featured in the series who were still waiting. Does anybody know?
I wonder how much you should tell kids in the end. They tend to accept scars & brief explaination. They need to know you still love them when you 'go away' for a bit and that you are ill and may get better etc, but not sure they need details of large heart etc, too much detail may be upsetting and if you don't make too much of a thing about it they sometimes accept things better and just get on with their own lives. Depends a lot on their age too.

we have just explained to dd1+2 that daddys heart doesnt work very well so he has the machine, which pumps like a heart for now, but the doctors are trying to find him a new one. dd1 has a vague idea that it will come from someone who no longer needs it, but dd2 doesnt as she is only 3years old. dd1 made the decision last week to put herself on the donor register.
