Wentworth on Channel 5? I've just finished Orange is the New Black so I'm quite into women's prison dramas Blush

I thought it was great but was disappointed that Married with children didnt come on straight after like back in the 80's!

SavoyCabbage · 29/08/2013 13:03

I'm a full on proper Prisoner fan, and I liked Wentworth. I've already seen it all cos I live in Australia. Right next to the real Wentworth, that's how much I love it. Grin

THANK YOU me and the husband were wondering what we watched just after it ,

oh savoy do you I was hooked right away watching it sometimes new programmes take a while to warm up,

TukTuk · 29/08/2013 15:24

I thought this was great . Never watched the original except for stumbling upon episodes in the early hours back in the day .

mrsjay · 29/08/2013 16:00

I know it is going to be violent and i know there is going to be swearing in it but I think I like that it isn't a fluffy womens drama about relationships blah blah ,

Onesleeptillwembley · 29/08/2013 16:09

Ok, I'm a bit thick and had 2 large wines during it last night. Please explain to me slowly. Is it the original characters re worked? Or is it totally new but using the old names?

mrsjay · 30/08/2013 15:00

it is the original characters It is telling the story basically of how bea got to be Queen Bea

Groovee · 31/08/2013 11:28

I enjoyed it. I never saw the begining of prisoner. Just watched it later on.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 31/08/2013 12:45

Only trouble is now that I'm watching the old ones on YouTube. I'm on number 22 of 469 or thereabouts. I'll be watching it for the rest of my life!

emmelinelucas · 01/09/2013 17:18

I was a teensy bit disappointed, I prefer the originals.
I will still watch next week, though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/09/2013 22:26

finally watched the repeat - wouldnt work on demand for me :(

but

really enjoyed it :) but have nothing to compare it to as didnt watch the original

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/09/2013 22:01

Anyone watching tonight?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 04/09/2013 22:07

Surely they would have CCTV in all areas of the prison in this day and age? I mean, yes, in the 70s or whenever it was this event originally happened they wouldn't have, but the premise is a bit weird now, surely? Or have I missed them knocking out the cameras?

I think Vera is about to discover her inner Vinegar Tits.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 04/09/2013 22:48

I haven't watched it tonight, I probably will on the catch up. Not sure I like it enough tbh.

EdwiniasRevenge · 04/09/2013 22:59

I can't believe no-one told me about this.

My mum used to record this for me and we would watch it whilst she ironed.

I'm a bit rusty on the old ones though....my need a you tube session...

SoleSource · 04/09/2013 23:05

Mrs Jackson wasn't killed in the original it was her Husband

AnneEyhtMeyer · 05/09/2013 09:59

That's right, Sole, and Mrs Jackson wasn't the governor, was she? She was the nice prison warder.

SoleSource · 05/09/2013 10:02

I know it was Mrs..... who was the Governer, the top screw

Ahhh Mrs Davidson the English Lady

Groovee · 05/09/2013 17:07

I'm just about to watch episode 6 for the original prisoner on You tube. Have been a 4 day week at work so not had time to watch this week's wentworth.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/09/2013 22:06

Anyone still watching?

They're in the laundry!

EdwiniasRevenge · 11/09/2013 23:29

I've recorded

They were always in the laundry.

The equipment there always looked a bit dangerous to be letting convicted criminals loose with....a great big heavy steaming press...always with Queen Bea at the helm. And a huge dryer that coukd fit hslf a dozen inmates in...

...were there actually any other jobs for them???

Groovee · 12/09/2013 08:44

I fell asleep during last nights.

But am on episode 41 on You tube of the original and they can work in the garden...

Meanwhile on bad girls they stuff envelopes.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/09/2013 13:52

I never watched PCBH, but am somewhat hooked on Wentworth.

Can anyone tell me what connections there are between this series and PCBH, please? Are there characters in common? Thanks!

Groovee · 12/09/2013 13:57

Meg Jackson was an officer married to Bill and it was bill murdered not Meg. Frankie tried to take over from Bea who was in for something else. She got out and shot her hubby and got life. Lizzie was an old con who'd poisoned people.

It has been changed about. Vera Bennett isn't so nice in the original. Hence she ends up being called vinegar tits

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/09/2013 15:03

im still enjoying, prob as i never watched the original
