The West Wing: Trivia (Spoilers)

Fiderer · 16/05/2013 10:51

We haven't had one of these for ages and I watched the pilot again last night and was inspired. Plus WW trivia is the best way I know of getting through long boring meetings looking awake and making cryptic notes.

Leo lent Bartlet a bike which Bartlet rode into a tree.

  1. Where was Bartlet on holiday?
  2. How much was the bike worth?
  3. What kind of tree did he crash into?

Looking ahead:

  1. 5 Votes Down: Name the 5.
  2. What is Leo's wife's first name?
  3. What are Leo's daughter's first and last names? (OK not so aheady)

Please play along and post more questions Grin Any season.

3.soft cheese, tuna, marlin?

  1. In the service of your country son
dreamingbohemian · 31/05/2013 11:26

3 ooh close but not quite (swordfish, tuna, brie which Margaret thinks is a fish Smile)

4 -- yes. Ted is v funny in that scene (hellloooo, she's pregnant, people)

Fiderer · 31/05/2013 12:21

  1. Issotov
  1. Topopopomov .

That may not be the right way round and no 2 looks possibly wrong Grin

dreamingbohemian · 31/05/2013 14:02

Haha. No but that's a great fake name!

misslaughalot · 31/05/2013 15:06

Oooh the link between Lost and TWW is Terry O'Quinn, who was General Alexander in TWW and John Locke in Lost.

I have a funny feeling there might be another one though...

Fiderer · 31/05/2013 17:51

TSSDNCOP - I think you're right about how uneasy they all get around Karen Cahill. Must take a lot to unnerve Leo, that would have been a great scene.

Wasn't KC based on Maureen Dowd of the NYT?

  1. What's Margaret's surname?
  2. What does Bruno think her first name is?

Hooper
Agh, I want to say Red Haired Girl Grin but is it Stacey?

What's the music that's playing as Bartlett goes to his press conference after admitting MS.

What's the music playing when Simon Donovan is shot.

Fiderer · 31/05/2013 18:28

Hooper, yes.
Stacey - yes, I had to look it up just now because I only remembered the other one.

Music: Brother in Arms - wonderful scene.
Simon: Hallelujah. Poor Agent Sunshine.

Not a quiz question, was Margaret really eating apple with salt when the Nobel Prize guy was waiting for Jed in her office?

So I've been thinking about Leo's stories. Bonus points for an accurate version of:

(1) the big block of cheese story

and/or

(2) the story he tells Josh when he has PTSD.

I absolutely love the Leo and Josh relationship.

TSSDNCOP · 31/05/2013 22:06

From memory becuase i am that sad "Thomas Jefferson had in the lobby a big block of cheese. It was there for any that were hungry." In that spirit Leo has big block of cheese day to give an audience to people who wouldn't normally get the ear of the President.

Many people pass by the guy in the hole until one jumps in. Man in hole says are you crazy now we're both in here. Man 2 says yeah but I've been in here before and I know the way out.

TSSDNCOP · 31/05/2013 22:07

Fid yes. I assumed due to her morning sickness.

Fiderer · 01/06/2013 20:33

Andrew Jackson had the cheese. Poor AJ. Forever known not for his legislation but for his cheese.

Hassled · 01/06/2013 20:39

Oh I'm so glad this is still going strong - but have no good trivia questions. I do have Big Block Of Cheese Day (October 20th, according to my WW mug) entered in my phone calendar, though, just in case I miss it.

I'm getting to the stage (on latest cycle) where I know Josh will meet Santos for the first time soon - somehow it gets more exciting the more you know [sadder than sad emoticon].

Fiderer · 01/06/2013 20:44

There is no "sad" where the WW is concerned. Ever.

Mug? Oooh, do show Grin

OP posts:
Hassled · 01/06/2013 20:52

Right - I have one.

Re-election time - Will and Toby are trying to come up with a counter ad to a Republican attack ad. It's the one with the family in the car. What else is in the car?

Same episode - what type of bird was tapping at Donna's window?

Hassled · 01/06/2013 20:56

I have this one.

I sent DS1 this as a surprise present when he was at University just because I missed watching WW with him. Then DS2 started watching, so it was OK again.

TSSDNCOP · 01/06/2013 22:13

Crap, of course Andrew Jackson. Out-foxed by Fid.

Dog
Pigeon

Fiderer · 02/06/2013 11:47

My brother was telling me about a paper he was writing on Jefferson and I was wittering on about his Big Block of Cheese. Realised just as I finished and said, "Oh, no, it was Jackson." Best Hmm face I've seen in a while!

So there must be something about TJ and cheese.

And here it is

I'm going to spend boring meetings next week deciding which WW quote I want on a mug.

Following on from Hassled's q, 3 of the 4 interns are called Lauren. What's the 4th called?

OP posts:
Fiderer · 06/06/2013 07:02

Oy, slackers, Leo's office, stat!

I was watching what Josh calls "Total Crackpot Day" again. How did Bartlet cheat at tennis when playing mixed doubles against Toby and CJ?

OP posts:
BeckAndCall · 06/06/2013 07:19

Oo. Oo I know I know!

His partner was Stephie Graf - who he said was the German attaché .....

( I think all of my lt questions were answered upthread - yes to John Locke btw - that's what I was thinking)

The last episode we watched was Josh and Amy nearly getting together, so, next Q-

Where were they planning to go for a few days away just as they got together? And where did they end up and what music was playing?

Fiderer · 06/06/2013 07:40

Morning Beck - good to see someone's up to play Grin

I love how Bartlet, principled and honourable, is such a blatant cheat.

They were going to go to Tahiti but Josh couldn't get away so they ended up in his apartment and UB40 Red Red Wine was playing.

OP posts:
BeckAndCall · 06/06/2013 12:32

Yes on all counts!

And I love the phone call - just silence from Leo until he stops him on the third date details! You can feel Josh's embarrassment! And Margaret is in the room too. So josh!

bigkidsdidit · 06/06/2013 14:00

hello fellow fans!

I've just started mat leave #2, no baby yet and DC1 still in nursery so I'm spending my days switching between WW and the tennis Grin

The fourth intern is Cassie :) and Bruno thinks Margaret's name is Stacey I think?

but what was the music playing as Bartlet walks to the press conference, Hassled? Thagt's bugging me.

what happened to Margaret;s baby? SHe was never off work, was she?

Fiderer · 06/06/2013 18:03

Welcome bigkids Enjoy your mat leave. Have read on MN and can imagine that WW is great for all those hours rocking, feeding and comforting wee babies - wish I'd known that when mine were small! Good luck with baby2.

Yes, Cassie is the 4th intern. Bruno also calls Margaret "Gertrude" but I think that was deliberately goofy as he knew it wasn't.

I liked the way Margaret was pg and no big deal, it just happened.

The music was Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits.

CJ just fell in her pool.

So why was she so impressed when they went to Hollywood for the thing...makes as little sense as Sam not knowing who Mallory was.
