The West Wing: Trivia (Spoilers)

Fiderer · 16/05/2013 10:51

We haven't had one of these for ages and I watched the pilot again last night and was inspired. Plus WW trivia is the best way I know of getting through long boring meetings looking awake and making cryptic notes.

Leo lent Bartlet a bike which Bartlet rode into a tree.

  1. Where was Bartlet on holiday?
  2. How much was the bike worth?
  3. What kind of tree did he crash into?

Looking ahead:

  1. 5 Votes Down: Name the 5.
  2. What is Leo's wife's first name?
  3. What are Leo's daughter's first and last names? (OK not so aheady)

Please play along and post more questions Grin Any season.

"They did apparently base Santos on Obama who was at that time (I think) still a state Senator in Illinois."

It does make you think about all those conspiracy theories about how Obama was groomed by a bunch of shadowy King Makers. I mean, he came from nowhere and was given the highly prized prime time keynote speech at the 2004 nomination.

HKTekGuy · 17/05/2013 11:38

Pot has legitimate medical uses. I'm assuming that treating cataracts is one such use.

HKTekGuy · 17/05/2013 11:54

5 out of 5 Limehouse.

Limelight · 17/05/2013 12:43

Oh and Fiderer! Almost 5 out of 5. They call Ellie's DH 'the fruit fly guy'.

Limelight · 17/05/2013 12:49

Ta HK!

I've heard the Santos / Obama link thing before. It is definitely a bit Twilight zoney!

Being a little bit obsessed with the WW is a good thing because it's brilliant! We've adopted a lot of WW terminology in this house. DS told me recently that 'Dad is at a particular peak of Dadness' Grin. He's 5 and there's no way he knows where that comes from so I suppose we must say it a lot!

Slightly more worryingly DH is a civil servant and works for a central gov dept. He says that he spends much of his working life comparing situations he's in with either the WW, the Thick of it, or Yes Minister.

If only Bartlet were real! Sad

HKTekGuy · 17/05/2013 13:16

Whenever the wife goes on too much about one thing I say "what's next?". She doesn't watch WW so she can't understand why I have a smirk on my face when I say it.

Hassled · 17/05/2013 18:20

Yes to needle exchange.

What character does the actor who links Lost with the WW play?

Fiderer · 17/05/2013 18:56

Only character I remember from reading about Lost is the hobbitty one, Dominic Something.

Leo's wife was Jenny, btw. They never explained why Mallory was O'Brien. Maybe she used her mother's name or she was married before. Bit odd that Sam didn't know she was not a child though.

5 Votes Down, Wingnuts:

Wick (Josh "I own his ass")
Tillinghouse
O'Bannon

And?
Le something
Katzen-something

OP posts:
Fiderer · 17/05/2013 19:29

Aggh - really annoying me now.

Don't even know if O'Bannon is right. Sounds right, looks wrong.

In a rush but marking place Grin

I'll be back!

Fiderer · 21/05/2013 19:22

Good to see you Grin

5 Votes Down, Wingnuts. We're not there yet and we don't even have any Kung Pow chicken - with the sauce - to help us think.

What do Zoe and Charlie add to Jed's chillie?

Fiderer · 22/05/2013 09:01

That was one on my list ladymalfoy Grin

Zoe wanted to add more cumin but Charlie said it needed oregano. Or as he said it "orrIGGGGano".

Another food one. A delegation from Nebraska left Bartlet 2 gifts. One was a shirt, the other Mrs Landingham confiscated. What was it?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 22/05/2013 09:03

Which is weird because I wouldn't put cumin or oREGano in chilli Shock

How does CJ like her coffee?

Fiderer · 22/05/2013 09:11

I don't know. Is that the one where she's CoS and wants one of those long US style "skinny latte doubleshot over easy" coffees? Grin

Over easy is eggs I think. I've always wanted to go to one of those US diners for breakfast. I'd probably still be poring over the menu at lunchtime.

OP posts:
CJCregg · 22/05/2013 13:41

A double shot, light on the soy, cinnamon-chia mochacchino, no whip, sprinkles and another shot on top.

I had to Google. I used to know it. Blush

Fiderer · 22/05/2013 14:47

I had to think what the soy was. Surely not soy sauce Grin

Is that a drink or a sculpture?

And I will have to google the 5. I used to know them too. I was planning on waiting till autumn to re-watch TWW but started early when we were all off sick. Not sure if it was a good idea. Shock

BeckAndCall · 22/05/2013 20:53

Mrs L consifcates a steak from Nebraska.....

I've always found it odd that the senior staff didn't Lready know Mallory really well as she would have been with them on and off on the campaign trail. That's one of the blips in the eary writing.

So what's the name of Matt Perry's character, and the justice played by Milo oshea? ( same episode)

And who can tell me the link actor between Lost and WW?

Fiderer · 22/05/2013 21:11

Hello BeckAndCall Smile It was steak. Mrs L was a "cattle rustler" acc to Bartlet.

It was very odd that they thought Mallory was a 4th grader - and that Sam chatted up Mrs Leo during the campaign. Blips indeed.

Matt P was Joe Quincy and Milo O'Shea was Justice Ashland. The Supremes is one of my favourite episodes.

Q: CJ learned all about Pluie the wolf. What was the bear who came up next called?

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 27/05/2013 13:40

Oh man, I just watched that episode too, Fid...but I have no idea the name of the bear!

The Mallory thing makes me insane. Along with where the hell did Mandy go?!?!

Let's see a question...

What was the name of the man who died wearing Toby's coat?

beginnings · 27/05/2013 13:46

I'm supposed to be packing to move house and you people start THIS!!!

DH and I might have started a re run on Saturday night and we might be six episodes in already

Backing away until after dinner......

MavisGrind · 27/05/2013 14:01

As a relatively late WW convert (currently working through them all on LoveFilm and only up to season 3) I am diligently marking my place Smile.

Anyone watch The Politicians Husband with David Tennant? There were a few WW references in that and I believe that DT is a huge WW fan. So that's nice. Grin

Fiderer · 27/05/2013 17:44

Yay, more Wingnuts!

Mavis DT took part in a WW quiz with Rory Bremner as the quizmaster a few years ago. When you hit the desolation of finishing S7 and realise you have no more episodes to watch, finding that'll be some consolation.

Tee - the veteran was called Walter Pumpernickel. Last name's not right Grin but it was German-sounding.

I love Big Block of Cheese Day. I think I once suggested to OliviaMN that she asks Justine if MNHQ could have one so we could bring our assorted requests. Obv they think we are truly crackpot women as I never heard back.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 27/05/2013 17:51

Heffnagle or something! Grin

These Women....

ladymalfoy · 27/05/2013 21:16

What was unique about the episode 'Ishmael and Isaac'?
