Crying my eyes out watching the shoulder dystocia again... Was pregnant when I saw it first time round and I remember my ante natal yoga class the following night was v subdued, we were all traumatised!!!

Shaky · 20/03/2013 21:34

I remember watching her last time with my heart in my mouth. So scary.

NotAQueef · 20/03/2013 21:34

I thought I recognised her. Poor woman.

Oh god yes I remember that one- I think I was holding my breath the whole time, and I just sobbed with relief when it was all ok. So glad to see they are having another- poor mum must be so nervous though!

Lozario · 20/03/2013 21:36

I'd love to see Lara now! Did I hear them say they had to pull the arm first? Would that have damaged her arm?

SoupDreggon · 20/03/2013 21:37

BleUgh! [squeamish]

Shaky · 20/03/2013 21:38

Seeing that first cut makes my tummy feel funny, no matter how many sections I go to, that first knife to skin always makes me wobble

Fuck, that shoulder dystocia isn't any easier to watch second time round...

AnnabelKarma · 20/03/2013 21:40

How sad to give birth on your own. Surely they could have asked a neighbour, nursery mum? Anyone would do it , I have in the past.

That aside, I don't like her, she's a bit of a prat.

stargirl1701 · 20/03/2013 21:40

I think the doc broke the baby's clavicle to get her out.

LeggoAcubunnyture · 20/03/2013 21:40

Lozario, they had to break something, arm/shoulder to get the baby out. Was very dramatic first time round.

Are epidurals standard in America? American woman seemed like she expected one regardless.

Shaky · 20/03/2013 21:40

I remember the feeling of the epidural drugs going in. It felt like someone had tipped a bowl of warm washing up water in my lap

stargirl1701 · 20/03/2013 21:41

Yes. If you watch OBEM USA. It is standard to have an epidural & synotocin (sp) drip.

pigleychez · 20/03/2013 21:41

Feel completely numb inside now after seeing that again.

Can feel a sleepless night coming on with all the memories of DD's birth coming back. :(

Shaky · 20/03/2013 21:43

Flowers pigley x

IrrelevantElephant · 20/03/2013 21:43

"How sad to give birth on your own"

I've done it. It was actually very nice.

ChristineDaae · 20/03/2013 21:43

Wow American woman genuinely seems confused as to why more people don't just stroll in and ask for epidurals right away!

Gooseysgirl · 20/03/2013 21:45

It would have made very interesting tv if the anaesthetist had been too busy to fit the American woman in Wink

ellesabe · 20/03/2013 21:45

The American woman is irritating me too but I can't put my finger on why.

oldraver · 20/03/2013 21:46

Isnt the Epidural rate something like 90% ? So probably just thought as the norm ?

AnnabelKarma · 20/03/2013 21:46

Why are neither of them moving about ? Gah - worst way to give birth flat on your back!

LeggoAcubunnyture · 20/03/2013 21:47

I would have loved a water birth. Instead I was strapped to the bed on a drip and then whisked to theatre.

Wonder if she chose an epidural so she could have a days peace before going back home.
