I can't find the old thread, so thought I'd start a new one Grin

Is anyone else following the US election and finding themselves comparing everything to TWW?!

I found this on the BBC website and was impressed to realise I knew what most of them were, thanks to TWW!

Frankel great link!!

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 29/10/2012 13:08

There's another great article on BBC website this morning, but I can't link to it on my phone.

It's in the Magazine section of the news page and is called "Extra Mile". It's about the time and travelling devoted to the last few weeks of campaigning and reminds me of Santos forgetting what state he is in and Vinick fracturing his hand Grin

champagnesupernova · 29/10/2012 13:10

Link to beeb for Frankel

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 29/10/2012 16:59

Thanks champagne Grin

Am I the only one who is worried about Sandy and it's potential affect on the election? If anything gets screwed up in the next few days Obama will be blamed. It could be San Andreo all over again Confused

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 01/11/2012 08:05

It's starting to sound like Sandy could be Mitt Romney's "San Andreo", a la Vinick. Apparently he's been campaigning on cuts to FEMA, the very people who are organising the clean up and recovery operations.

changeforthebetter · 03/11/2012 09:14

God it's weird how it's all mirroring S7 in a way Obama is being credited as "presidential" and Mittens as FEMA-bashing and climate change sceptic. I hope that Obama's team keep it together. I still think it will be incredibly tight (and I won't get much sleep that night!)

Fiderer · 03/11/2012 14:06

Agree it will be v tight and nerve-wracking. Obama's visits reminded me of Bartlet visiting OK after the tornado.

Don't think Obama is getting any bounce out of the last few days, however highly people rate his performance. Romney & the FEMA cuts doesn't seem to have hurt him.

Am always surprised how many people voted for Bush, Ritchie (!) and now apparently Romney. We don't know how many electoral votes Ritchie won but he had a good chunk of the popular vote.

Thought Obama looked really tired behind the eyes on the news earlier. Which, as a seasoned veteran of Season 7, I of course know all about. "Playing time-zone hopscotch"

Oh for Lou Thornton and Bruno Gianelli to fire up the last days of the Obama campaign.

changeforthebetter · 04/11/2012 16:46

I love Lou - mouthy, opinionated, bolshy and not remotely worried about putting Josh in his place Grin

I think they put some sort of purple eye shadow under Santos' eyes t o show the extreme tirednesson the plane when he asks Josh if they are going to win

Umm, are people coming to this thread on Tuesday night for a US Election WW-style?

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 04/11/2012 17:34

Perhaps we should start a thread over in Chat, we'll get more traffic that way and might even recruit some more WingNuts Grin

Fiderer · 05/11/2012 19:48

We'd have to put TWW in the title otherwise we'd annoy people who aren't fans or who want to be serious by filling in the time between exit polls or calls by reminiscing, comparing and lusting after WW characters Grin
Not necessarily in that order Wink

Am staying away from the election thread in Chat, tbh.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 05/11/2012 19:52

I've been drawn in Blush it's all got very right-wing "Mary Marsh" over there all of a sudden.

Fiderer · 05/11/2012 20:11

See, that's what I mean Grin It's a serious election and yet I'd rather distract myself with the parallel universe of the West Wing.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 05/11/2012 21:44

You're right, we'll have to title it something like "The Alternative West-Wing-Inspired US Election Thread"

changeforthebetter · 05/11/2012 23:46

Yes I think a separate WW election thread is better - that way infidels people who don't love WW don't have to endure our frankly slightly obsessive discussions

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 06/11/2012 07:53

Tis done Grin

Nevertalktomeduringthejackal · 07/11/2012 18:38

Hello! Your plan has worked, you have recruited at least one more WingNut.

I haven't watched any since April this year as when I start to watch one episode that is effectively weeks down the drain, but this election has made it hard to resist!

Answering a question form the very first page which I have geekily realised no-one has answered: Operation Resting Eagle is when Bartlet put his alarm clock back an hour so he could wake up and then put it on snooze.

There are three words in the English langauage which begin with the letters 'dw' - can you name them please?!

Also to put one lusting thought in writing: Josh. In some sort of tuxedo, talking to big-shots (but wishing he was talking to Donna, obviously) at a White House function.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 07/11/2012 18:46

We looked into the "DW" thing and there are actually more than 3!

Dwell
Dwarf
Dwindle

Plus
Dwale
Dwine
Dweeb

There are probably others too Grin

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 07/11/2012 19:58

In honour of the election, I am watching my favourite WW episode tonight - The Supremes

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 07/11/2012 20:10

"I love her. I love her mind. I love her shoes!" Grin

Nevertalktomeduringthejackal · 07/11/2012 21:00

Genuinely devastated! I trust Bartlet so much I never even thought to doubt him.

When you said The Supremes I immediately thought not of the episode, but of "Mr McGarry, Mr Zeigler, Mr Lyman, Ms Cregg, it's The Temptations, I love you guys!"

RibenaFiend · 07/11/2012 21:04

Hello!!!

"Bring me for finest muffins and bagels in the land"

I've introduced DP to TWW and this means I get to watch EVERYTHING all over again! He loves it and Zoe's just been kidnapped. My fave episodes!

...it's going to be and unbearable day Wink

RibenaFiend · 07/11/2012 21:04

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 10/11/2012 22:27

Finally! They've called Florida for Obama.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 16/11/2012 20:11

Bumpety bump

changeforthebetterforObama · 16/11/2012 20:41

Anyone else imagining Obama walking down to Congress like Bartlet did to avoid the "fiscal cliff"?
