How interesting, this is what I'm looking to do. Let's see how it goes? I like the fact one of the ladies said 'it's the hardest thing I've done bar giving birth' argh

Yes, I watching with interest!

Imnothome · 07/08/2012 21:14

Im also watching with interest.

Upto now its changing my mind about having a student midwife at the babies birth. I was dead against it before now I'm coming round to having a student present.

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:18

Me too. Even though I want to be a midwife I was against it. I have to say this newly qualified girl I really like. This is really strengthening my ambitions and confidence Grin and I'm pg.
I'm so excited now!

I don't think the student should have given the parents that information, it should have come from someone qualified.

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:26

I agree lady that girl also looks like she has a love bite on her neck
I really like this girl Smile

Yes it did give mixed messages to the parents didn't it? wouldn't give me a lot of confidence.

MamaMary · 07/08/2012 21:27

I had a student midwife in the room when I was giving birth and she was FAB - as good as the real one (who was brilliant).

However, there was another student midwife who used to accompany the community midwife and she really irritated me; was so absentminded she took measurements then forgot to record them and had to take them again etc.

Looking forward to the programme!

LadySybildeChocolate · 07/08/2012 21:29

It would have confused the parents. I'd have said that I didn't know and that the midwife would be along in a minute.

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:33

Exactly 'I can't diagnose as I'm a student' would have done.
Neo natal upsets me, my mum is crying now as I was born at thirty weeks Sad

treedelivery · 07/08/2012 21:35

She made a mistake, first day on the ward. It happens.

I feel sorry for this 2nd year student - I hope she can cut it.

Sad for your mum Pickles77 but happy you are here to write that post Smile

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:38

Me too, proves it works. Mum says she had brilliant student midwifes Grin
This is a nice prog.
I'm not sure about this second year student, I do understand about her feeling under pressure though

OP posts:
LadySybildeChocolate · 07/08/2012 21:39

They should have taught her about what she can and can't say before she went onto the ward.

I don't think it's looking good for the second year. Big error there. Sad She seems lovely though.

Imnothome · 07/08/2012 21:41

The second year seema lovely.

Imnothome · 07/08/2012 21:41

Seems*

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:46

I thought she was going to faint

OP posts:
shinyblackgrape · 07/08/2012 21:50

Watching this too. I'm nearly 25 weeks with DC1

Probably totally selfish but there is no way that I could bear anyone practicing internal exams or trying to break my waters. Particularly when i dont have a clue whats going on. Presume you can refuse all that?

The second year seems lovely but terrifies the wits out of me. Wat a terrible mistake that could have been.

I'm probably being totally PFBish.

treedelivery · 07/08/2012 21:50

She's passed!!! Oh I hope it clicks for her or third year will end her.

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:51

No I don't think you are shiney. I think I'm more inclined to let them even though it's my pfb as I want to train myself

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:54

I want jess to deliver my baby!!

OP posts:
LadySybildeChocolate · 07/08/2012 21:54

She's a wonderful midwife.

shinyblackgrape · 07/08/2012 21:54

Thanks Pickles - I'm sure you'll be fab and aware it's a very selfish attitude as everyone has to learn sometimes just not on my foof!

treedelivery · 07/08/2012 21:54

Awwwww!!!

Imnothome · 07/08/2012 21:55

I'm pleased the second year passed.

I'm 14weeks with my third dc and I don't thi nk I could allow someone to learn internals on me.

Pickles77 · 07/08/2012 21:58

It might be different when I'm 40 weeks and some Tom,dick or Harry wants to av a look at my fanjo Grin
But I don't think as a student hopefully I get this far I'd be offended if anyone said no step away from my fanjo missy
