That's ok, Doing - I've just watched the eps I'd recorded so I'm as up-to-speed as any of us can be! (And, anyway, it's my fault for not watching them sooner.)
But now I'm even more confused. Obviously the last episode focussed mostly on the House/Wilson relationship (and Robert Sean Leonard deserves an award for his acting), but House's stupid stunt that ended up with him breaking his parole seemed over-the-top even for House. But I suppose that the writers wanted a crisis, and that's the best way to achieve that.
The finale is a normal-length episode, but I can't see how they can resolve the situation in just an hour. It would be good if they followed Doing's idea but that would mean House being more expert in Wilson's own specialty than Wilson. Alternatively, I don't think they can fit 5 or 6 months into a one-hour episode for House to be released in time to be with Wilson at the end.
I've never watched "Thelma and Louise" or even read a synopsis, so I can't reference that, but now I'm thinking that House and Wilson will take off before House is due to return to prison, with some angsting about that, and we'll see them driving off together, fugitives on the run, leaving us never knowing the outcome. That would be a sucky ending, but probably better than the joint suicide option (though I think the scene where House set up a shared infusion of morphine might have been a bit of foreshadowing).
It's just as well I'm not a writer/producer - I've managed to confuse myself with my ramblings, so goodness only know what I'd do to an audience.
