Anyone else really looking forward to this?

I always remember, of course, the guy who was living in the scottish islands but then became a politician.

I love the Cluedo character comment QofCGrin She did look great for 66, if a little ironed out!

wintera · 23/05/2012 18:52

Are we sure she's 66? She looked nowhere near 66 at all! She looked younger than most of the 56 year olds! Blimey, I'm amazed truly.

DuelingFanjo · 23/05/2012 23:19

are we sure she's called Cryss? that's completely made up, surely? Grin

bruffin · 24/05/2012 08:36

Isnt it just a typical American name. It looks like she is a Professor of educational policy at Minnesota

MidnightHag · 28/05/2012 21:15

Anyone watching?

Happyasapiginshite · 28/05/2012 21:16

I love Bruce, he's always been such a lovely man.

MidnightHag · 28/05/2012 21:22

Interesting how many of the blokes on this are such great family man. Nice to see positive male images for a change.

MooncupGoddess · 28/05/2012 21:25

I like Lynn, though feel very sad about her losing her job when she's so committed. I think she's the only one in the series to still be happily married to someone she met so young - all the other early marriages broke up.

Margerykemp · 28/05/2012 21:26

These snippits are too short!

sailorsgal · 28/05/2012 21:34

These boys sounded frightfully posh when they were young. much less so as they have got older.

Happyasapiginshite · 28/05/2012 21:41

And they turned out to be nice people, both of them.

moonblushtomato · 28/05/2012 22:13

What an absolutely wonderful series.

I've watched it since it began with 7up and loved every minute.

I find it incredibly emotional and life-affirming and have cried through most of all the 3 episodes!

Best bit for me tonight was Tony and his wife bringing up their grand daughter - what amazing, lovely people.

edam · 28/05/2012 22:34

Aw, I feel all warm inside having watched this. Terribly sad that Lynn's job has gone, though, all those children who won't be going to libraries any more - or finding a friendly, helpful children's librarian there if they do manage to find somewhere with books.

Bruce was lovely, as always, but a surprise to find him at St Albans' boys. Wonder which is the Quaker school his boys go to? I didn't know there was one in this neck of the woods.

BiscuitNibbler · 28/05/2012 22:57

Seemed very rushed this evening, and far too much recap, especially of Bruce. Would have preferred to see more current updates.

Can't believe that's it for another seven years. I'm so glad that they seem mostly happy this time, despite the ups and downs of their lives.

MidnightHag · 29/05/2012 07:14

There's Leighton Park in Reading, Edam, although that seems quite a distance.

Nancy66 · 29/05/2012 08:33

I really enjoyed it too.

Interesting how most of the privileged kids achieved pretty much what they said they would aged 7 - also how badly the working-class participants have aged in comparison to the others. What's that? A hard life? Lifestyle?

DuelingFanjo · 29/05/2012 09:48

LOVED IT, i THINK bRUCE IS JUST AMAZING. Woops Caps!
I always remember when he said 'my heart's desire is to see my daddy' - sends shivers down my spine. So glad that he has a happy life with two lovely kids and a lovely wife.

Lynn always looks so sad but seems quite happy with her life. I wonder if she's a lifelong smoker, she looks like one.

The Posh boys seemed to turn out ok though I had to laugh when one of them said that his mother had to 'go out to work' Shock

lovely series and can't wait for 62up!

areyoutheregoditsmemargaret · 29/05/2012 09:53

It was much better last night - they saved the best until last. I remember feeling positively hostile towards the posh boys way back, but I can see now it was just the way they were set up - they were good people and clearly trying to give something back.

FunnyLovesTheJubilee · 29/05/2012 09:59

Fab programme. I love seeing how this child turned into that adult. Fascinating.

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 29/05/2012 10:06

I watched it with DS last night and he thought it was brilliant as I did.

I'm really looking forward to child of our time too. I remember watching the first one when I was pregnant and really looking forward to meeting DS and watching him grow.

highlandcoo · 29/05/2012 10:49

Great that Bruce ended up with a happy family life, having come across as a lovely but rather lonely and unhappy little boy. Just a detail, but I loved the bit where he blew up the airbed outside the tent then couldn't get it through the door and his wife was helpless with laughter :) His boys were great and he's clearly making sure they have all the fun father/son stuff that he missed out on himself.

I still didn't take to John as a person, but all credit to him for his charity work in Belarus; that was excellent.

I must check out the driver any time I climb into a taxi in London - would love a chat with Tony!

thaliablogs · 07/06/2012 22:07

Just finished watching it now. I feel renewed but very frustrated with the shortness of the programme, it's not doing these people or the format any justice to keep it so clipped. Feel we were really skirting the service except perhaps with Tony who I think Michael Apted has always connected well with. Wish the programmes had been at least twice the length.

I loved the interplay between Suzy and Nick. Great chemistry.
