Is it just me or does this programme get your into a hypnotic state. I find it so fasinating even though ive been there, done that. I spose you dont get to view it when you are going through labour yourself. Does anyone else love this programme.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 25/01/2012 22:26

sorry, that should be 'THAT several sets of parents'

ReindeerBollocks · 25/01/2012 22:29

I actually felt a bit sorry for the other lady, as I felt she just didn't get enough support from her DH (although that could have been editing) and it looked like the fast labour really hurt her. I think she clearly loved her daughter but was concerned about her existing child and the effect that the new baby girl would have on her current family. I think that probably means that she loves all of her children very very much.

She looked amazing after five as well cos I look a mess after two!

AtYourCervix · 25/01/2012 22:32

watchin on +1. how many times will i have a cry before that baby is actually born? what lovely lovely people (trish & stephen).

hifi · 25/01/2012 22:39

I was initially unconvinced Tricia could care for a child,in the follow up she looked like she had taken to motherhood like a duck to water.well done both of them. Says in the article she conceived naturally after two ivf attempts.

BeaMinor · 25/01/2012 22:52

Me too AtYourCervix. I was already welling up a couple of minutes in!

LivingDead · 25/01/2012 23:02

That was lovely, feel so sorry for Trish, there must have been many kerfuffles before birth to be so paranoid about them taking her baby away. There was a Mum on the ward I used to work on who had a baby removed shortly after birth in odd circumstances, I can't think of anything worse.

A Dr tried to wheel my ds away with hardly a word said to me, I think I may have punched her had she been in range, I was content with grabbing the other end of the cot Blush.

YouCantTeuchThis · 25/01/2012 23:04

that was the most memorable and touching bit of telly I have watched in a long, long time!

PandaG · 25/01/2012 23:09

just watched on +1. Loved it. How touching, welled up a number of times. They were so in love, and Stephen was so determined that his wife was to have help to be a mum, not have someone in to take over. Just lovely. Even DH watched completely captivated, he usually ignores birth programmes.

This programe is too close to home, as I am going to hospital tomorrow to be induced. Trisha and Stephen are so lovely I was in tears, and was pushing for her Smile. Her baby is beautiful and she is a fantastic mum. The man on the other one was such a wanker.

brandysoakedbitch · 25/01/2012 23:25

Best of luck Pigletmania

Made me cry too. what a lovely couple

Other bloke: tooooooool

pigletmania · 25/01/2012 23:47

Thanks brandy I am hoping for a water birth looks so clam and relaxing.

brandysoakedbitch · 25/01/2012 23:51

I am hoping to have one of those too (in April at home) - you will be fine whatever because you will have your baby.

Sluttybuttons · 25/01/2012 23:56

Gender disappointment is strange. When i was pregnant with the twins i desperately wanted them to both be girls but when i found out it was 1 of each i was over the moon. DD on the other hand told me that she would ask santa to take him away and give us a girl instead lol. Even now she occasionally says "can we sell 1 of the babies and get a new 1" i ask her which one and she says "the grumpy boy" lol. She adores her little brother though

floralsanddresses · 26/01/2012 07:32

Watched it just now. Bawling my eyes out at Trish's baby being snatched away, teaching her how to use roads and ?I love her. I want to keep her?. So glad for the follow up. Trish's husband is amazing. That help is all fantastic and Elizabeth is a very lucky (and gorgeous) little girl.

NinkyNonker · 26/01/2012 07:32

Tears tears tears here. And what a contrast between the couples, I guess that was the point. I know whose labour I'd rather though!

buttons99 · 26/01/2012 09:42

I actually thought both couples were great and in their own way right for each other. Both my DH and I said the birthing pool couple were a couple who clearly knew each other very well and the jokey comfortableness between them was great. He made her laugh, he kept her spirits up and yet at the actual birth part he was quiet and supportive to her. I think they are a lovely couple too and shouldn?t be ?put down? by anyone just because the other story was more unusual. If they had been on a different week maybe opinions about them would have been different. Two beautiful little girls born into two very different families but both loving devoted ones from what we saw.

Beveridge · 26/01/2012 10:54

QueenKong Nobody who has had a baby is a wimp! EVERY labour is different, some make you feel like you are being electrocuted for hours (DD), some are easily confused with a bit of a stomach ache until the last 20 minutes (DS).

Women don't have different pain thresholds, women actually experience different levels of pain!

(I know this comment was pages ago but I had to comment immediately I read it!)

PostBellumBugsy · 26/01/2012 14:53

Loved the banter between the couple having their 5th and how despite a show of nonchalance at the beggining the DH / DP really was there for her at the end. Couldn't believe how quickly the baby was born after her waters broke either.
Stephen & Trisha - just amazing. Wanted to hug both of them constantly. I think little Elizabeth is going to be surrounded by love & happiness. Wonderful care by the midwives too.

gregssausageroll · 26/01/2012 15:04

I thought the couple of thier 5th were dreadful.

mamijacacalys · 26/01/2012 19:09

What Button and YouCant said. Excellent TV. Thanks to all involved.

susiedaisy · 26/01/2012 19:18

Just watching this weeks episode nowGrin

BerryLellow · 26/01/2012 21:42

I've just caught up with this on sky+ and have sobbed so much I look a wreck.

Stephen and Trisha are an inspiration and I wish them all the best.

The other couple were unfortunate to be on this week really. He did seem like a bit of a twat, admittedly, but as others have said, he could be the victim of heavy editting or just is a bit awkward and doesn't always get it right.

WentworthMillerMad · 26/01/2012 22:11

Just watched on 4od catch up. Probably the most emotional tv I have seen in a long time. Trish and Stephen were amazing and I think have maybe opened my eyes to disability and having a baby. Utterly moving and beautiful.
Elizabeth is a lucky girl, so much love.
Will have another ball I think!

norriscoleforpm · 26/01/2012 22:28

Just watched it too, having recorded it last night. Not ashamed to say I pretty much cried all the way through
