I didn't mean he showed much remorse this time either, more that he was taken aback and looked uncomfortable because he thought that had all been conveniently forgotten about. He was shocked that that was what Aisha was talking about and not the slap. No doubt a lot of hate too.

I found the Aisha episode a bit disappointing. It wasn't really clear to me why she was so drawn to that sleazy keynote speaker.

I guess because she's been portrayed as this sensible practical character I was expecting her episode to be more plot-driven. As it was it was more 'Connie'. I didnt dislike it but with only one episode left I wanted more resolution.
I found the grandparents' return a v bizarre scene. Suddenly Koula is darling MIL? It was almost like a dream sequence, a fantasy cinjured up to justify her loyalty to Hector and his family rather than Rosie.

I think the family get together scene was a scene of forgiveness - they had all made their choices, been on their holidays and then found that the source of their conflict (the holiday) was completely irrellevant as none of them had the holiday that they expected. So it showed the futility of the conflict.

I thought Aisha's story was just right - how many women with kids wonder 'what might have been' or feel tied down - just like men do. I kind of expected her duality - her 'letting' herself have an affair, it was almost that she needed to fully contemplate an alternative before she would be happy again. And Hector's admission of an affair could have been her perfect opportunity to divorce, but she chose not to. Why? Because she understood that life is never perfect.

Her assertiveness towards Harry and Rosie was a pleasing outcome - that's what I meant by being people pleaser. Following the trip it's almost as though she decided not to leave things unsaid again. Rosie was taking advantage of her emotionally, Harry was getting away with abuse - saying nothing wasn't helping anyone. And Harry's wife needed Aisha to acknowledge what had happened - her apology for not talking earlier was testament to that.

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST EPISODE

I did love this show - family lives - they are messy and sometimes dishonourable, and never as they appear to be on the surface, but we get through them and hopefully learn something along the way.

So they all lived unhappily ever after. But settled, tumbled around a bit and each of them done things they've regretted, betrayed loved ones, let people down. The dust settled but they have all learned something and moved on.

I wonder whether Richie's was the author's story?
