Yes, I thought that Napier´s return might finally get one of the gels married off!

Diddl I think Mary is going to be sorely tested - let's see which way her character goes.

matthew is going to become avail again, might even be able to shag, and then the pretender is showing up...restarting the will her or won't he inherit debate.

I guess she´ll decide that she wants to marry him anyway & thus be "worthy"

And then the heirs an imposter so everyone gets the ending they want-M&M &DA!

I'm not so sure. I think Lavinia may well stage a comeback: when Mary realises she's never going to love Matthew 'enough' she let's him go....! (dont' think it will be the end of the story though, my money's on JF dragging it out into Series 3 one way or another.)

Also: michelle D said there's a sex scene, a wedding, and a funeral this series. We've now had all of the above...

I have to confess I was ironing whilst watching so I might have missed a few significant looks. BUT BUT BUT - have I totally missed the clues re Lord G and the maid? Why is this something everyone's assuming is going to happen?

Am pathetically hoping that Matthew will recover. I am a total sucker for a happy ending. I actually like Mary now, dammit. Really like the way her character has grown and changed throughout the two series.

I missed the maid bit too. I really hope that doesn't happen. Affairs are so cringe-worthy.

Hugh bonneville would have found it really hard to act that, seeing as he's such a family man.

Last night's ep was fabulous but I have a huge issue - has Julian Fellowes actually forgotten that there was a flu epidemic which killed more people than the war? I mean, there has been no reference to it whatsoever. This is a bit of a cock up if so.

Hmm, just googled, it started in June 1918 so I suppose there is time.

Didn't it start after the war, when all the soldiers came home?

Also, if Matthew now won´t "subject" Lavinia to being married to him-doesn´t that also apply to Mary-unless he only sees her as a friend?

If Mary tells Matthew that she's had her bit of fun then maybe he won't feel the same scruples!

I still think Lavinia is going to have to conveniently die of flu or turn out to be a caaaaaaw in some way (preferably connected with the dastardly Sir Richard - bastard is clearly going to hold Mary's past over her) so she can be packed off and forgotten about.

Maybe Mrs Bates will go ape and take a shotgun to Dastardly Sir Richard?
