Just seen Pootle the flump on FF's member profile and it struck me that "The Flumps" was a really bizarre programme.

We were really bought up on some wierd shit weren't we?

Rentaghost. Ahead of its time IMO.

Enid · 04/11/2005 20:33

you'll find them all (and more) here, one of my old fave websites

3PRINCESSES · 04/11/2005 20:38

Captain Pugwash.

And the Michael Bentine(sp?) Potty Show. (Please tell me I didn't imagine that one...?)

Zephyrcat · 04/11/2005 20:41

I've still got the Animal Kwakers popland annual somewhere! I think it's got the words to the song in it.... the bit I remember is just "Bongo Rory Twang and Boots"

I went to see them live as well !!

pfer · 04/11/2005 20:42

Fingermouse - cardboard mouse with a blokes finger stuffed up it's bum

Jamie and the Magic Torch - now that one I liked.

Ahhhhh memories

Witchycat · 04/11/2005 20:44

Littlemissbossy - thanks you for the Barnaby song link ! I've been singing that off and on for years and my dp thinks I invented it cos he can't remember it at all despite being the same age as me. I will play it to him!

Monkeytrousers - I think we are the same age. Clangers & Fingerbobs figure highly in my memory. Bet you remember Bagpuss, Mr. Ben & Jamie & his Magic Torch too.

Anyone remember Mary, Mungo & Midge about a girl who lived in a block of flats with a dog & a mouse?

pfer · 04/11/2005 20:44

We've been watching Bod and Mr Benn on NickJr tonight. Think that stinking Bagpuss is on later - hated that cat.

teeavee · 04/11/2005 20:46

for all the welsh speakers who grew up in the 70's - Teliffant and Syr Wynff + Plwmsan

Taid was SOOOOO weird!

absolutely loved it - still do!

pfer · 04/11/2005 20:47

teeave - wtf

hunkermunker · 04/11/2005 20:47

Wattoo-Wattoo. It had evil pigeons and a strange black and white creature. Very, very, very odd.

DissLocated · 04/11/2005 20:47

Noddyholder - I think it was Pipkins!

Furball · 04/11/2005 20:47

Does anyone remember 'The Changes'? - Now that was seriously weird

teeavee · 04/11/2005 20:48

i'm desperately hoping someone will know what I'm on about!

Syr Wynff was THE BOSS!

(and no, I'm not drunk)

DissLocated · 04/11/2005 20:49

DD (18mo) has recently become addicted to Bagpuss - does a mean impression of Professor Yaffle.

fishie · 04/11/2005 20:50

noddyh, it was called pipkins [dons brum accent] 'haaartley haaaaartley'

noggin the nog was dead strange.

misdee · 04/11/2005 20:50

pob

pfer · 04/11/2005 20:50

DH has just said that Raggety off Rupert the Bear used to scare him to death .

pfer · 04/11/2005 20:51

Misdee - isn't that the wierd fat faced puppet thing that spits all over then goes "P O B, Pob" ?

yoyo · 04/11/2005 20:52

Teliffant - now that is a blast from the past!

Frayedknot · 04/11/2005 20:56

Not a kids programme but does anyone remember that weird Norwegian thriller thing Maelstrom?

LadyTophamHatt · 04/11/2005 20:57

oh oh oh oh kaymac, I do beieve you've got it.
I'm sure it was itsy and bitsy.
Loved that.

OP posts:
Frayedknot · 04/11/2005 20:59

Itsy and Bitsy were on paperplay.

teeavee · 04/11/2005 21:03

yay! yoyo! you remember it!
I knew I wouldn't be alone!!!

pfer · 04/11/2005 21:04

DH say's:

Hart Beat - with Morph and Chaz
Magpie (then sings maaaaaaagpie)
Tizwaz
Multi Coloured Swap Shop
Why Don't You

What was that stupid program where everyone had to do team races like running in and out of cones, getting wet and stuff like that while the crowd cheered on?

TinyGang · 04/11/2005 21:06

Pogles Wood - very odd.

The Herbs - creepy and odd.

Crystal Tips and Alistair - chemically induced hallucination.

I think most of the programmes we watched as children in the 60's and 70's must have been dreamt up over a bong. Good to see FingerBobs mentioned. Was it Yuffy who used to lift a finger and a mouse was there...? Whatever you say...maaaan
