20 in a class
No curriculum
TV Cameras

And they still piss around! Maybe people will start to get a real idea about how perhaps some of the students are in fact not vitims but the architects of their own downfall!

No, MB is next week.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2011 23:08

I felt a bit sorry for Danielle. She seems an easy-led girl whose education was seriously compromised by disruptive pupils and her desire to fit in.

AitchTech · 16/03/2011 23:11

they have changed the running order then... norty.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2011 23:13

It's MB and Blush some poet laureate next week.

Starkey was on form tonight, though. :o

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 17/03/2011 09:20

I wish I could have learnt Latin at school. I did French, German and a bit of Spanish but Latin would have been amazing. However as I think I was the only person in the school to think like that it was never going to happen :(

What really annoyed me about this weeks episode was the comment on how tough these kids lives have been and that's why they act up. I don't know a single person who would say their life was perfect as a child for many reasons and non of them act like those kids do!

expatinscotland · 17/03/2011 09:27

Why not learn Latin now? :)

I wonder if Alvin's message about self-discipline and delayed gratification got through to any of those in the class other than the one who wanted to start his own business? I hope so, because it seems a big part of the problem with these young adults.

ShinyMoonInAPurpleSky · 17/03/2011 09:53

I agree, I also had an issue with the girls mum (was her name Harlem?!?) when she said that the head teacher shouldn't have said what he did to her when she shouted out "I'm second". In my opinion what she did was childish and unnecessary but the fact that her mum didn't seem to think she had done anything wrong speaks volumes. It's the sort of thing you would expect a 6 year old to say.

And I think I may look into learning Latin...

Ahh another product of the middle classes to scoff at the Chavy and just plain stupid poor.

When will people stop watching such stereotypical light entertainment programs masquerading as something they are not.

wheelsonthebus · 17/03/2011 13:37

Alvin Hall, what a star - can we have him back on mumsnet please.

ScarlettWalking · 17/03/2011 15:19

I loved him, absolutely inspirational man.

I think it was so apparent why " Harlem" had such a dreadful attitude towards authority and her ego was so big. Her mum just fannies around her " I will back you up" before she even had a clue what happened.

Does she never ask herself if after 18 yrs, it may actually be her daughter that is the problem here and not all the teachers etc etc. It is astounding how blind these parents have been. She has been given this golden oppourtunity and look at the attitude! She should go.

Bramshott · 17/03/2011 15:23

I must admit I was Shock at "you think you're in charge just because you're the headmaster"! How is it possible to get to 18yrs old and not realise that yes, the teachers are in charge!

Well to their faces anyway Giddypickle :o

MilaMae · 17/03/2011 18:09

Alvin was fantastic.

Pennies · 18/03/2011 09:58

I've got a degree in Latin. Which sounds impressive but it's not the best thing for job opportunities. I think people are worried I might start declining verbs at them or explaining the use of Ablative Absolute.

Honeyfluff · 18/03/2011 12:28

Poor Starkey, you are being a tad over the top. It was his first lesson when he made his mistake, and he has learnt from it, and recognised it's wrong. But he probably had never taught a group of students like that before so we cannot blame him for getting it wrong first time. At least he has persevered and is now teaching some very good history, and getting the students relatively interested.

It's still blatant cherry picking for "good" TV.

I don't care for entertainment programs pretending to be realistic in a way, if you see what I mean.

expatinscotland · 18/03/2011 22:57

Then don't watch them.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2011 21:15

Bumping for tonight!

expatinscotland · 23/03/2011 21:16

FGS, these people behave worse than my 7- and 5-year-olds.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 23/03/2011 21:18

poor sensitive poet Andrew Motion.
he hadn't got a clue what to do.
