nightowl · 29/09/2005 17:33

btw...cant see it...but maths isnt my strong point. need a calculator.

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:35

Well I guess they get housing benefit for a BIIIGGG house with 15 kids, council tax too plus income support for them that I think has a bit ontop for each kid, plus child bebenit each week for each one of the kids, and then if they have any disabilitys they will get more and then carers allowance.
74 grand is 3 years worth of me and dp going to work.

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:35

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:42

Income 2004/05
On the basis of this information we have calculated that you and your partner qualify for:

less than the family element of Child Tax Credit if your income is under £120,449 but over £50,000;
the family element of Child Tax Credit if your income is under 50,000 but over £102,247;
the family and child elements of Child Tax Credit (and potentially Working Tax Credit) if your income is under £102,247.

Right I have just put in me and 15 children, one on the way and its came up with this.....make of it what you will...I cant get it.

Nemo1977 · 29/09/2005 17:42

Also on top of benefits charliecat said also have child tax credits and if any are on incapacity you get more than income support and then on top can claim dla. plus extra benefits in terms of maternity grants etc?????

Nemo1977 · 29/09/2005 17:43

charlie bet there is a way to get it if you wanted to??

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:43

£26,370.06 oops needed to press next. This is the tax credits amount...

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 17:43

I don't if that is right but can you imagine feeding, clothing and sheltering 15 children?? Jeez.

Nemo1977 · 29/09/2005 17:46

lol weesadie

Did they have a council house knocked through or something??????

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:49

No they had the whole row

Kidding, although could be true I suppose.

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 17:49

Maybe they have an entire estate to themselves

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 17:50

lol CC, great minds...

charliecat · 29/09/2005 17:51

BunnyBoo · 29/09/2005 17:53

BunnyBoo · 29/09/2005 17:58

Ok let me not get my magazine....

Sorry i can not find it i think i have thrown it out!

I remember it saying she has been pregnant for 12 yrs there are 3 different fathers, they say they struggle to buy food, clothes etc for the kids on what they get from benefits..but.....

The interviewer who was in there house worte they had a big 42" flat screen tv and spent £500 on each child for xmas one yr..... so not sure they can be that skint

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 18:02

I don't know anything about it but it amazes me that they would have any spare cash with that many children to look after.

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 18:03

Nemo1977 · 29/09/2005 18:06

I know a family who live off benefits. Mum is 25 and has 6 kids. Oldest has Cerebal palsy, set of twins and 4th child have a kidney disorder and 5th and 6th child are 'normal'. They live in a 5 bed house, have a minibus AND a car paid for through disability. They not only recieve income support but also carers allownace and dla for 4 of the children and there income is well over 50K not including housing benefit etc. They have never had jobs since leaving school!

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 18:22

Well I have been living off benefits, am a single parent, so I don't look down on it. Especially when you have very little choice. I am trying to sort myself out and have just started uni.

I don't know that situation bonkerz but it must be very hard with two disabled children?

bonkerz · 29/09/2005 18:25

I too have been a single mum on benefits so am not judging BUt the family i know really get TOO much IMO. YES i dont doubt that the disabled child is hard work BUT she is in a school from 8am till 5pm every day and when she is at home she also has a nanny to help care for her (all apid for by state!) The 3 who have kidney problem need no extra care and appear 'normal' but they have to drink regulalry! All these are at school too! Their house has every gadget imaginable and the dad spends all his day on computer or playstation.

weesaidie · 29/09/2005 18:27

Ah well, I definitely like to think if I could afford to work I would and I will.

I didn't mean you were judging, just that I feel uneasy judging myself as I don't know the situation.
