i do think artem and natalie are the best choreographers, though.

Artem's choreo for that american smooth was a work of genius

I have a theory as to why Anton has never won - and probably never will. He's not believable in the Latin dances.

I finally decided this during the group dance at the beginning of the first show.
If you watch him compared with Brendan, Jared, Vincent etc he just looks uncomfortable. The difference is that the others all look fine doing ballroom.

Natalie has been guilty of the leotard showdance in fairness (as has Brendan), but by and large I would agree. Anton can do well but so many series is given a hopeless case. James is an extremely skilled choreographer as well.

And now the Strictly-free chasm opens up until September (bar the Xmas show and the live show if you're going on it ... )

I'm no expert, but if Artem's American Smooth was in fact completely against the rules - as everyone seems to agree it was, even if 3/4 of the judges decided they didn't care about the rules in his case (though they did every time Matt did something they didn't like) - how does it qualify as genius?

I've been thinking about this (having nothing better to do with my life now) and I think it's because the American Smooth is not one of the 'standard' dances. So it's slightly outside the rules. Seems odd that Len decided to care about the rules and everyone else just went 'feck it' but I think that's the reason.

I thought it was incredibly arrogant to do the American smooth again exactly the same. They must have known Len still wasnt going to like it. They would only have had to change a small part of it to get 4 x 10s.

It was genius because it is simply a beautiful piece of dance.

And after they had danced it, Kara said to Len that Artem had planned to change it so that the required 40% was in hold, but she hadn't been able to cope with learning any more new choreography.

In which case, Proley, surely that is another reason why Kara was not necessarily the best dancer there? In the same way that Scott simply didn't have the stamina.

I don't disagree that it was beautiful, btw!

But I got more and more infuriated by the double standards applied by the judges.

Anyone with eyes in their head could see that Kara was the best dancer there, surely?

Mind you, I think that both Matt and Scott were capable of much more. Scott ran out of steam and Matt was let down by his partner.

In fairness they did know the judges' marks didn't count (another factor in them handing out 10s?) so why change a gorgeous routine?

Yes - Kara herself said she felt embarrassed because she'd had so much more time to train than Matt. But his failings were much more choreographical than technical. Scott- I don't know. Could have been different without such work commitments I think, but would probably only have changed who was number 2.

I just wanted Scott to beat Pamela!

Sorry to lower the tone but if Kara and Artem get it together - she is one hellava lucky girl
