I think the telecoms licence thing was a bit overplayed, but agree that the lying about a competitor was v. serious, that combined with his atrocious management style the week they did those videos in the shopping arcade, inexperience is no excuse for that sort of stuff.

Report
claig · 16/12/2010 19:52

Yes I agree, the stuff about the competitor was serious and he did have some atrocious management techniques or lack of techniques.

LadyBlaBlah · 16/12/2010 19:53

I agree about the license thing.

And might I be so bold as to say that the guy doing that interview, despite his declarations of being technically superior, made a fatal error in demonstrating his technical and industry knowledge

He said that Stuart had an ISP license (true) but he said that ISP stands for Internet Service Protocol. It doesn't. It stands for Internet Service Provider.

Also, it was difficult to hear what Stuart was saying because he spoke right over him, however it is possible to provide a full range of telecom services over IP, and I think that is what Stuart was trying to say. If the guy had such amazing technical knowledge he would know that the way forward with voice and broadcast services is over IP.

exactly right LadyBlaBlah, I spotted the Viglen guy's error too. I am sure that Stuart bit his lip and didn't tell him that he had made such a basic error.

Report
claig · 16/12/2010 20:13

Anyway, who cares what his licence cost him i.e. £350 as they kept saying? It's the business that counts, not the cost of the licence. You can set up a Ltd company for a few hundred pounds. Does that mean that Ltd companies aren't good businesses?

He did well on Radio 5 today. He came across very well. Jamie came across as an arse and told the presenter what L'Sugar was looking for and why Mr Braggs didn't qualify. Jo was good too.

Thanks for that MollieO. I've just looked it up on the archives

Jo was a woman with integrity though - not a scumbag - and it looked like she'd lost confidence in the face of the griling and needed a deserved boost.

Braggs OTOH needed taking down a peg or five, and a swift encounter with a BS-buster.

Smile. I didn't like Baggs at first, but I changed my mind. He will go very far. Someone will snap him up. He's got the "it" factor, he is special. He has got tons of faults, but he has also got a rare talent and drive that overrides all of his many faults.

Haha at 'posh beavis' LadyBlaBlah, that has made me laugh out loud Grin

I hope Stella wins.

At 10.00 minutes into the Radio 5 Live interview, Baggs brings up the point that LadyBlaBlah made about the Viglen manager's error over the meaning of ISP.

Baggs says that the firing was filmed over 1 year ago.

MrsDingDongMerrily · 16/12/2010 21:10

I also still don't like Baggs, but agree he will go far with the amount of ambition and drive he has. I have come across plenty of people in my working life who have gone far precisely because they are prepared to lie, treat their staff like crap etc. Have also met plenty that have gone far without resorting to this stuff. He could go either way, hopefully he will have learnt his lesson.

claig · 16/12/2010 21:18

In ten years time, Baggs will be a different person. He is still young and he will learn much more about how to deal with people.

Good point by Baggs. He doesn't think the licensing issue was responsible for his firing. He says it was a dud issue. He thinks that Sugar was angry because he had made a mistake in keeping him in the previous week. He says that Sugar didn't use his business head and was swayed by Baggs's speech which was a mistake by Sugar and Sugar was angry at that.

He does sound rather good on that interview Confused

Report
claig · 16/12/2010 21:20

He says he has been inundated with requests to appear on radio and TV, and hints that he might be appearing on our screens soon.

Report
claig · 16/12/2010 21:24

He does tell the listeners "don't vote Labour", apparently he is on the right. If Cameron has his head screwed on, he should make Baggs the Brand, Minister for IT and broadband. I wonder what the Viglen boss would think of him then?

Report
LadyBlaBlah · 16/12/2010 22:00

That might be going a little too far claig

He is still very annoying, shallow and lacking any real experience............................oh wait, you are right, he would fit in perfectly Smile

yes I think you're right, StayFrosty. It was pure theatre and they used Baggs all the way and then discarded him brutally. However, he has got one quality, his drive and enthusiasm, so that even Karen said that they all agreed that he would achieve what he wanted to.

Apparently his father had a company of the same name formed when Stuart was 14. It was dissolved the day before "Stuart's" company was registered in 2007 Xmas Hmm.
