I'm guessing this may be a one post thread.

Yes, I think it was his "I was political in the right way" attitude combined with an arrogant streak about his own music which, let's face it, is kind of earnest and twee, especially in comparison to BD's genius.

Latinker · 27/09/2005 00:11

Agree completely about the earnestness of PS being a major turn-off. Was also commenting on how great he's (Dylan) is looking, a bit foxy

The arguing about the band was so funny, so polite. Looking forward to tomorrow more though.

Latinker · 27/09/2005 00:12

Joan Baez also a turn-off. That warbling worthy voice dominating all others.

moondog · 27/09/2005 09:36

Never got Joan Baez at all......

Tinker · 27/09/2005 20:03

It clashes with the football tonight

uh oh... do you have a video?

Tinker · 27/09/2005 20:07

Yes, but which to tape? I'd be paranoid it was taping BD, he'd want to watch MU live. Hmm. It's my tv and my video. I win

OP posts:
Tinker · 27/09/2005 20:08

not taping

Have to say I'm really disappointed that it just stopped there. What about the wilderness years and all his music from the 70s onwards?

mykidsmum · 27/09/2005 22:39

I would have liked to see more too, but wow how amazing was that, particularly when they showed him playing Visions of Johanna as my Bob Dylan loving dad named me after that song!! I felt quite emotional, but the whole programme was a fabulous insight and education, just wanna go and listen to his records now but my dp is havinfg none of it!

moondog · 27/09/2005 22:53

One of my favourites too mkm-how great to be named after it.
I was satisfied with the time period covered. Any more would have been too messy.
Arguably, this period covers the making of him. Further stuff is just buffing up the old diamond.

Do we know how many kids he's got?
His son Jakob had a good tune out about 10 years ago-complete rip off of his father though.

How thrilling to see and hear the 'Judas' moment!
Amazed at how modern he suddenly sounded.

fsmail · 27/09/2005 22:59

I liked the time period because it shows the fundamental changes within him and his true personality at a time when he reached his peak. Many people could not have taken that pressure. I think his philosophy was great and probably saved his life and sanity. Got to dig out my old records. Even my DH not a big fan is singing like a rolling stone

moondog · 27/09/2005 23:01

Complete with whiny bits I hope fsmail?

fsmail · 27/09/2005 23:24

Definitely, my DH is always whiney. He's from Dudley, they are born with that tang.

moondog · 27/09/2005 23:25

psml!!!

(I'm muttering 'Dylan plays Dudley' to myself in the accent. I'm good at accents,me!)

Tinker · 27/09/2005 23:28

Think he's got 5 kids - know there's a Jesse because that was our chosen name if baby had been a boy

I would have liked more but agree that it was probably about the making of him. How weird to have so many people wanting a piece of you. The question about his t shirt!

Just caught Lulu doing Mr Tambourine Man. Surreal.

moondog · 27/09/2005 23:31

I liked him!
(Thought he'd be much more miserable)

Totally bloody cool too

ScummyMummy · 27/09/2005 23:53

So very cool, yes. Extremely likeable too. And brave and ... swoon. I love him! Partner picked the wrong night to be a grumpy f**ker. My affections are entirely transferred now!

Tinker · 27/09/2005 23:55

Yes, you can see why he's always surrounded by women. I love him more. God, I could see how easy it would be to turn into one of those people with their pressed against the car window.

OP posts:
moondog · 27/09/2005 23:55

He looked really dinky, like a little doll in most of the coverage.
How tall do you reckon?

(God after all my snooty 'I only care about the music' comments,I've morphed into a 17 year old groupie!)

(Don't think my dh gets Dylan at all...)

ScummyMummy · 27/09/2005 23:56

True but we can't because he'd despise us then. Loved him telling Scorsese that he was pressing for answers in a similar way too.

Tinker · 27/09/2005 23:57

Not tall, I don't think. No mention of drug usage either, looking a bit jittery towards the end.

OP posts:
Tinker · 27/09/2005 23:57

He's got kind eyes I think [swoon]

OP posts:
moondog · 28/09/2005 00:00

But why would he release his latest album exclusively through Starbucks??
It can't be a money thing.
Deliberate perversity d'you reckon??

ScummyMummy · 28/09/2005 00:01

Very kind and laughter in them. Isn't it funny how he's so much more sexually gorgeous in his early sixties than he was in his early twenties? Swoon!

Agree he was either drugged up or at breaking point towards the end if the footage. Maybe both.
