I'm guessing this may be a one post thread.

Sign of my age, I saw him at Wembley Stadium in 1984 I think it was that year. He is in Birmingham on 18th Nov so may go and see him if I can persuade DH. Not a big fan! Must watch him on telly

Tinker · 22/09/2005 23:09

I saw him at Wembley Arena on the night of the hurricane.

Massive Dylan bore here!

Aint it just like the nAAAAigght to play tricks when you're trying to be so quIIIEETT

We're sitting here stranded although we're all doing our best to dEEEENYYYYYYY it.......

Saw him in 89 with my old bf.
Was going out with new bf (now dh) but the concert had been arranged for months so snuck off with old love.
Never admitted that to anyone before.

That Crouch End think is a bit of an urban myth.

Anorak, psml at you raving at the autobiography and how memorable it was then forgetting the title!

I'm looking forward to it Tinker.

I was given Chronicles read by Sean Penn for my birthday but sadly the children have not allowed me to listen to a millisecond of it .

Along with fantasising about going away for a weekend for a lie in, I now want to add in some time to listen to the 6 CDs.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:35

Tinker,did he raise the roof?

(tu DUM!!)

(Seriously, did you know summat was up?)

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:36

Latinker · 26/09/2005 19:36

Latinker · 26/09/2005 19:37

I am Tinker btw, can't be ar*ed changing name back yet.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:39

Oh,I read some big debunk of the whole thing when i lived in London (10 years ago)
Apparantly (said in annoying confidential breathy tones) he went to see Dave Stewart there a few times.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:40

Ohmaybe you meant the other thing. it wasa very lame joke bringing together storms, singers, concerts, ecstatic audiences......

(trails off uncertainly)

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:41

Tinker, what date was he at his best when you saw him?

Latinker · 26/09/2005 19:41

Ah, scrolled back now. Hurricane. Get it!

Latinker · 26/09/2005 19:43

Hmm, trying to remember now. Must have been about 1989ish at Hammersmith. Can't remember exact year. But all times I saw him were between 86 and 90 so could still be crap and ace within small period of time.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:46

Best album?

Whaddya reckon?

I'd go for'Desire'or 'Blood on the Tracks' I reckon. Love 'Infidels' too.
Did a couple of them with the French teenagers I taught in France as aprt of my degree in 87. Like to think they are still listening.

Have a sneaky regard for the self titled though (bit silly in parts but grew up with it) and 'Saved' which is f**ing bonkers but great to wail along too.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:47

I saw him 89 in Hammersmith.
Remember being alarmed (although had been forewarned) that nothing at all sounded familiar!

Was completely off my face though...

Latinker · 26/09/2005 19:50

Have to go but best album for me, and I know no-one else thinks this so it's fave rather than best, is Street Legal. Haven't all his albums got such cool titles though?

Yes at Guess the Intro and, lol at all the completists who go to each gig and write down the running order. There's loads of them with little notepads and pens as each track starts.

moondog · 26/09/2005 19:53

Lol at notebook malarkey.
Some people (bet it's mostly blokes) always go too far eh?

Actually Dylan as a person doesn't really interest me much. It's the music I like.
I think personality cults of any sort are a bit creepy.

Buddhamummy · 26/09/2005 20:27

i am rather excited about bob fest tonight, but not as excited as dh who has gone down the offie to buy beer, chips and dips and has made a kind of camp in the front room!

merrygoround · 26/09/2005 23:05

Well, I loved the programme. What did everyone else think? Bob was so relaxed and easy going, not what I expected at all.

ScummyMummy · 26/09/2005 23:12

Doesn't Bob look great for 64?

(My only gripe is that I seem to have evinced an irrational hatred for Pete Seger during the course of the programme...)

moondog · 26/09/2005 23:12

Forgive me for sounding 109 but what a pleasure to watch a programme where the participants spoke for themselves.
No stupid voiceovers,camera tricks,continuity bollocks.

God it was fantastic, could have wept in some bits at the sheer enormity of his contribution to our world.

The Telegraph said he 'maddeningly' offered little insight into his motivation.
Eh??? Thought that's precisely what he did.

Bravo!!

Laughed (and felt a bit sorry for the surly Northern folkies (straight out of the pages of 'Lucky Jim' lol!)

'We want Bob,not a bloody backing band'

The future is rock 'n roll.

(Still don't understand why he appeared in a Victoria's Secret ad though. Taking the piss maybe??)

merrygoround · 26/09/2005 23:19

Scummy mummy, what exactly was it about Pete Seeger? Was he a bit too worthy or something?

I'm still basking in what a great programme it was. Bob's back catalogue will be flying off the shelves I should think!
