Yes she did. And the spoilers next week confirm it.

domesticsluttery · 01/11/2010 14:47

Are the spoilers online?

BitOfFunderthepatio · 01/11/2010 14:48

What are these spoilers of which you speak? I have been googling frantically, but zip Sad

diddl · 01/11/2010 14:48

Oh, Matthew proposed to bloody boring high & mighty slag Mary.

Hope he finds out about the turkish guy & tells her to piss off!

Still, Sybils just as bad-all for equality-but she´ll still stamp her foot & do as she wants & never mind the consequences to the servants

LutyensLikesCake · 01/11/2010 17:07

Shock Is that site reliable?

diddl · 01/11/2010 17:27

Wondering if Mary will refuse Matthew & he then goes off to fight, & they will have to find yet another heir!

Someone worse who Mary has to marry as no one else will!

Servants will also go off to fight & the whole place will fall apart!

Stately Homes thread - dysfunctional families.

HarrietTheSpook · 01/11/2010 20:34

Elsewhere I saw that there was supposed to be a death in the next episode. There is a picture of Mary on a horse in what looks to be like mourning gear. So maybe that site is wrong. It will be annoying, but not surprising given past performance, if they just bypass Mary's confession to Matthew re the Turk, having built it up that this would happen, and veer off towards this silly pregnancy plot.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm so addicted to this show...

GeorginaWorsley · 01/11/2010 20:43

I thought they wouldn't marry before war breaks out, rack the tension up over the war years.
Pity about Cora's baby.That O'Brien is horrible.

BitOfFun · 01/11/2010 21:01

Can we stop mentioning the spoilers for the benefit of people who didn't want to click the link please?

GeorginaWorsley · 01/11/2010 22:15

sorry Blush

Oblomov · 04/11/2010 20:24

A, shocked at spolier.
Have crush on Bates aswell. Best I get myself in the queue !!

megapixels · 04/11/2010 21:44

Am I the only person who feels sorry for Mary re the Turkish guy episode? She was very clear that she didn't want any shenanigans with him but he still forced himself on her. It was only then that she started to like it and stopped refusing him. I feel sorry that the whole incident is hanging over her future happiness when she was forced into the position of "the high and mighty slag" as someone said upthread.

Reminds self that it's just a TV program

megapixels · 04/11/2010 21:45

Oh, you no longer have to put *s around every word to bold it, I wasn't meaning to do that.

HarrietTheSpook · 04/11/2010 23:40

So funny: re just a TV program. I think I need this show to be over now (much as I am enjoying it.)

Kamal "Hot Lips" Pamouk - of course he had to go for someone inexperienced - any woman with any context when it comes to men and lovers would dare I say it not appreciate his "technique."

Matthew seems a better kisser... Blush

diddl · 05/11/2010 07:09

No,I don´t feel sorry for Mary at all tbh.

Hadn´t she already snogged him?

I suppose the lock on her door was broken or she couldn´t push him out the room, or scream.

HarrietTheSpook · 05/11/2010 10:00

the 'snog' was more of snatch and grab no?

I do think she got taken advantage of - probably it's right that drawing attention to it (screaming, etc) could sink her reputation even if nothing had happened. Once a man's there, he's there no? In those days. Which Pamouk would have known or ELSE he wouldn't have tried it. He must have percieved very limited risk to himself. And he chose his target well.

But the cover up - ridiculous. Of course they should have called for help. Kind of amazing that the focus has stayed on the reputational implications for Mary rather then whether it was something more sinister - like foul play!! Originally I thought this was where the story was heading.

diddl · 05/11/2010 10:07

I just don´t like the character.

I suppose it would have been assumed that she had told him where her room was.

Well, as I say, silly cow should have locked the door, especially after the "snogging".

And I have to say I can´t believe how obvious Thomas(?) was about his homosexuality.

HarrietTheSpook · 05/11/2010 10:21

That is one thing I am really curious about too. The droit de seigneur so to speak must have extended beyond housemaids...but for the footman to have made the move?!

diddl · 05/11/2010 11:04

On the supposition that she had alerted someone.

Would they have believed her if she said she didn´t tell him where her room was?
Or would that have automatically have thought "no smoke without fire".

Would they really not have thought that a servant might have told him?

And would they really have trusted Anna to help with the body?
