I'm going into school at lunch to see if anything can be done - she says that they will not mark the paper as they have no record of her entering for it

No he didn't gallop, he glided really fast!

Where we were today the seats went right back to the wall so no chasing without knocking students off seats

aloadoffishyballs · 16/06/2005 21:43

well youd have to plan a route
its very funny maily becasue you cant laugh

aloadoffishyballs · 16/06/2005 21:43

Hulababy · 16/06/2005 21:43

On most of the new higher papers/boards there is siome leeway anyway. They rarely actually fail somone unless they made a real mess. We have often had a grade D awarded on higher papers.

However, make sure the exams officer has sent of a mitigating letter with your DD's exam paper and discussed this with the board. ideally get something in writing too. Because the school gave her the wrong paper (it is THEIR responsibility, not your DDs) they should help your DD as best they can. This means contacting the baord and getting mitigating reasons to be taken into account when marking and grading the paper. But this needs to be done asap.

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 21:44

We also get kids awarded a D or E grade on higher papers. Which board did she sit?

And what grade did she need to get for collage?

Janh · 16/06/2005 21:45

Tomorrow morning I'm back at main school in the hall, which has about 140 desks and lots of space for silly games, I'll see if anyone is playing. (Sadly us laypersons are a bit pofaced about it, the teachers haven't incorporated us into any games yet. Maybe next year.)

Skribble · 16/06/2005 21:47

Nice to see it is taken seriously !

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 21:52

Janh, I see you are having a fab time!

I don't know how you manage to avoid dropping off.

The last one I did there was a probelm with the paper. I was very sorry for the kids but excited at the thought of having something to sort out!

That and the excitement of saying, 'There are 5 minutes of the examination remaining!'. be still my beating heart!

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 21:52

First question on last years AS maths (intermediate) paper, what is the cube of 3. As the cod says, fgs!

aloadoffishyballs · 16/06/2005 21:54

aloadoffishyballs · 16/06/2005 21:55

isnt it that you have a 50 percent chance of getting a A these days

marthamoo · 16/06/2005 21:58

I couldn't do it, I fall asleep in the waiting room for Tumble Tots.

Good luck to your dd, lilibet.

Janh · 16/06/2005 21:58

We were told we weren't allowed to say that any more, hmb, because it puts them off!!!! So instead we say "STOP NOW" and that isn't a shock, supposedly. duh.

Must say I was astonished to see most of them scribbling away for 3 solid hours today (well, 2 lots of 1h30). I asked the head of Exams afterwards if any of them ever get their papers back and he said only if there's a query about grades - it seems such a huge amount of effort and then it's gone into the ether.

Janh · 16/06/2005 22:00

My other joy with this age group is going through the list and remembering who I knew at playgroup. Some of them haven't changed a bit!

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 22:01

Ohh our exam board says that we have to.

And they even tell you the words to use at the start of the exam. durr!

I play, how many have I taught/can I put a name to. Then count red heads/blondes etc, left handers. anything to keep you awake!

Janh · 16/06/2005 22:04

Oh yes, we have "read this verbatim" printed out on cards - green, pink and red for start, during and finish (can't have yellow for during because Head of Exams is colour-blind, you couldn't make it up!)

I alos notice things like, girl 1 with gold watch, diamond-patterned black tights and pointy stilettos with buckles, and girl 2 with pink spotty socks, backless white moccasins and fringed scarf. And today there was a redhead called Frazer whose hair was parted neatly halfway down both sides of his head and gelled into a ridge the length of his head.

RTKangaMummy · 16/06/2005 22:05

DH has to walk around or stand up and not allowed to sit down for long during invig

If he did he would fall asleep

Janh · 16/06/2005 22:07

Yes, the men do do that, Kanga!

I had 3 teachers sitting in today, the one woman sat quietly and looked, one of the men rampaged up and down in clicky shoes or else sat crosslegged on an empty desk (what?) and the other man went up and down, up and down, up and down (6 aisles with dead ends) for an hour.

I just stood at the front (only 7 in a row FGS) and strolled from side to side.

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 22:08

I never wear chocky shoes and always take my jacket....the sports hall can be rather chilly

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 22:09

Clicky!

misdee · 16/06/2005 22:12

onew of my math exams questions was

here are three flowers, which one if the blue one.

[rolls eyes]

RTKangaMummy · 16/06/2005 22:12

I hated having them walking around when I did exams

DH wears very smooth soft shoes that are not squeaky or clip clop

They usually have loads of boys doing exams at same time in exam hall and have several inviging

Janh · 16/06/2005 22:12

I have noticed that many lady teachers do wear clicky shoes but walk around on tiptoe - it's really sweet!

happymerryberries · 16/06/2005 22:15

I always make sure that I put down my keys before I start walking.

I had to prop up a students destk last week as it was wobbling! That was exciting

And the number of muppets that forget a pen, pencil ruler etc!
