Almostanangel - so a Summer of luuurve ahead then?! I remember the Summer I finished my O-levels with my first love. What a fantastic time it is (yes I know there are plenty of hard things to deal with at that age but there is also nothing quite like being on the cusp of adulthood is there?).

they are going with a group of others to cornwall in the summer ..then we are off to oz so tears at the airport lol she wont get her exam results till we get home

I had to go to Majorca with my parents and moped around the pool all day. Remember having a big argument when I got back as I had sunbathed topless and he didn't approve. Still don't know how I had the nerve to go topless with my parents around!! I used to phone him every day but had to call a phonebox as his parents knew nothing about us (he was a Muslim so lots of sneaking around). How carefree were those days?

She'll have a great time in Cornwall. Definitely tears at the airport though!

No it's lovely!

When I was doing my finals my Mum sent me a cute postcard every single day with a new message on it to keep me going!

yoyo · 25/05/2005 23:10

Was she delighted?

tortoiseshell · 25/05/2005 23:11

I think that's a beautiful idea almostanangel - hope the exam went well.

Ah, glad she liked them

lilibet · 26/05/2005 21:55

really lovely idea - wish i'd thought of it

Janh · 26/05/2005 22:00

I never did anything like that either, lili - glad I'm not the only one!

(Or a treat when they were over, or a present when they got their results, I'm a tight cow. I like the idea of a treat at the end, actually, but as I never did it for DDs, can I start now for DS1...???)

lilibet · 26/05/2005 22:07

We do have a reward system in place:-
£25 for an A Star
£20 for an A
£10 for a B
£5 for a C

I sent her a Good Luck card saying "make us poor", but I think that I can rule large sums out!

Will probably get change from £50 - but it would be nice not to!

soyabean · 27/05/2005 14:56

That is such a lovely idea, I will try and remember it. I did take ds out for lunch or snack after his secondary school entry tests, and got a present for him after one of them (a hoodie if I remember rightly: he's not a hooligan yet, 2 yrs on!)But a big significant gesture like flowers is lovely. And we rewarded him for working hard for a guitar exam with a bigger than usual Xmas present last year. Like Maddiemo I like the idea of rewarding the effort rather than the results(but never say never, it may be needed when he gets to GCSEs).

almostanangel · 27/05/2005 14:59

why do they have to have the exams in the summer when its all stuffy? mine has R E today ..and asked me what mono theoism [sp?] was this morning ,,,..i tried to look like i knew ..but i guessed at one religion so hope she doesnt get that question

It means one god, I think, aaa - Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc have one god, Hinduism and others have lots.

almostanangel · 27/05/2005 17:16

thank you.
