Just wondered as ds is 16 and way back then It was 4 months.
a lot of new parents seem to assume this was all wrong

one was 3 1/2 months, one 4 months. So far so good. I guess if the advice was milk only til 6 months I'd have listened, tho not sure how I'd have coped with the sleepless nights (after they'd been sleeping through from 10 weeks) which led me to early weaning in the first place

Ds 13 3 months as advised by HV. Tall and thin, never had any eating issues, infact will eat anything that he can but does have allergies. But they didn't really surface until he was nearly 5. I craved peanut butter on toast through both my pregnancies and ate it every day.

Ds who`is almost 17 had baby rice and breatmilk at 12 weeks (big baby, allergy to tree pollen in second half of March). Was having peanut butter sandwiches by 6 months (wholemeal bread) to compensate for lack of protein in my vegetarian diet. DD1 was 4 months, she is now 15. Dd2 is almost 12, and I have no idea when we remembered she needed 'solids'!

DD is 13 and I've just worked it out she was 13 weeks. I can be precise because, she was born in October and I bought a Heinz Christmas dinner for her to try!

This is an intresting thread.

DD is now 22. She was given baby rice at 12 weeks as per advice of HV. She is a strapping lass with no health problems and no allergies.

DS went until 20 weeks before having baby rice, which he seemed hungry for. He is tall and thin and very healthy too. His only allergy is hayfever (inherited from me I guess, rather than anything to do with early weaning).

I did carry on breastfeeding though.. until DD was 6 months and DS was 9 months.

Oh and I ate brie, camembert and loads of peanut butter and roasted peanuts throughout both pregnancies.
