My daughter is 14 her friend is 16. Her mum has asked if she can buy some buzz balks for tonight. The parents are going out so they will be on their own. Never heard of buzz balks and don’t really feel happy but at least mum has asked please advice quick her mum wants to know.

Quick Google shows this. It'll take time to load.
Not sure I'd want my 14 yr old drinking them, if I'm honest

They’re alcoholic drinks. Given the mum seemed ok with it, I would now be insisting the sleepover / hangout takes place at your house.

Hayley1256 · 20/12/2025 09:46

Not at 14 with no parents present. This is a bit awkward though I'd say it's probs OK at 16

333FionaG · 20/12/2025 09:47

Do you mean the ready made cocktails, Buzzballz? They are high in alcohol content, and I don't think I'd want my teen DD drinking them.

distinctpossibility · 20/12/2025 09:47

Lots of girls in DD'S Year 9 class do drink Buzzballs (or hold them for photos for social media)

However it is a massive no from me. They're 13.5% proof I think. I'd be ok with a couple of Barcardi Breezers at 4% ish if parents were around but your DD'S situation - well it's too much too soon.

LadyKenya · 20/12/2025 09:47

No.

TY78910 · 20/12/2025 09:47

Buzz balls are known to be very high in alcohol content. I wouldn’t be happy with a 16 yo drinking that as their first exposure to alcohol. Vom fest brewing real quick.

Kittkats · 20/12/2025 09:48

No. Maybe at 17

Taweofterror · 20/12/2025 09:48

It would be a hard no from me. And I'd be rethinking the sleep over too because any parent who suggests buying buzz balls for a 14 year old is fucking irresponsible

CraftyPlayer · 20/12/2025 09:48

14? Absolutely not.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 20/12/2025 09:50

What?? No way!!!

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 20/12/2025 09:50

No, I’m pretty relaxed about alcohol in general, and would be fine with something like a wkd, but buzzballs are too high a percentage.

Carol52 · 20/12/2025 09:50

Thank you I don’t know this mum very well at all. I have only met her daughter a few times. She seems ok but I have had a Quick Look and they seem high in volume. Now I am worried as the parents are out with the girls drink anyway. It’s not that my daughter hasent had a little drink at home but now I am worried should l let her stop

Hiptothisjive · 20/12/2025 09:51

Hell no. At 14 this isn’t even a question.

sundayvibeswig22 · 20/12/2025 09:51

At 14 no way.

Carol52 · 20/12/2025 09:51

I don’t want my daughter to feel she goes a long with it

Carol52 · 20/12/2025 09:52

Should I let her stop now

I don't think you should let your daughter go to that house at all.
Let alone drink alcohol there.
If that woman lets her own daughter live a rackety life that's shameful but you certainly don't want your dear daughter dragged down into it.

Carol52 · 20/12/2025 09:58

What should I do please any advice my daughter will have as mood if I don’t let her go

At 14, no. My DD14 can have a glass of fizz if we’re celebrating something - which she refuses because she doesn’t like the taste. Apart from anything else alcohopops gets kids used to drinking sweet tasting alcohol. I’m happy to introduce alcohol to teenagers, but it’s going to taste like alcohol. If they don’t like the taste they’re too young to drink.

Drinking something high in alcohol that tastes like juice is a complete non starter, especially unsupervised.

If it was my child, she’d be in a mood. I’d rather deal with the mood than alcohol poisoning. I wouldn’t let her go but her friend would be welcome to come to mine.

Thats too bad. Being a parent isn’t about being popular and doing the right thing for your daughter. Tell her she is too young and given the circumstances it has too many risk factors.

distinctpossibility · 20/12/2025 10:11

Invite friend to yours?

Icouldwriteabookonmydisastrouslife · 20/12/2025 10:11

My daughter has these and she’s 18 and says after 3 of the small ones she’s drunk and ready to go out .

MyballsareSandy2015 · 20/12/2025 10:11

Absolutely not and I’m usually pretty chilled around booze. She’s 14 and they’ll be no adults present … recipe for disaster. Insist they sleep at yours.
