Pretty please save me from monopoly!!

Do you know of any fun family board games we could play and all enjoy? Dd and ds nearly 15 and eldest dd nearly 20.

Nothing that will electrocute me please 😂 - or taste horrible on that note…

Thanks

Sounds Fishy.... honestly its brilliant. DP and I host alot of board games and 3 of the couples have gone and bought this after playing it with us.

Oh yes, another vote here for Sounds Fishy - great group game for all ages!!

Uno No Mercy is great. Especially if your goal is for everyone to stop talking to each other.

We like exploding kittens in our house 🤷🏽‍♀️

Blokus is great

Men At Work is a good one that's easy to learn and play.

We played Dixit very enjoyably last weekend with the DSes (aged 12 and 14)
They also like ticket to ride, catan, blockus, and quoridor.

We also love the family version of cards against humanity. Articulate is great fun and also a similar game called Poetry for Neanderthals where you have to describe a word using words of only one syllable. We also enjoyed Herd Mentality last year.

We love exploding Kittens too. We always take it on holiday with us.

We have one called the ultimate family board game and its like a mix of taboo, balderdash, charades, pictionary and other stuff
We also like taboo
Card games i play with my teens are uno, ligretto, and dobble. Anything requiring speed, DS(16) wins, DH refuses to play!

SparkFinder · 14/11/2025 07:33

Quick to learn and easy to play are Blokus and Labyrinth.

Another vote for Ticket to Ride and Telestrations, and adding Wits and Wagers - a quiz game where you answer with a ball park figure and then bet on who got the closest answer, (ie how many eyelashes does the average human have on one eye?) It’s possible to never get a question right and still win the game!

redpickle · 14/11/2025 09:17

If you want something where you get up out of your seat then both Beat That and Throw, Throw Burrito are fun.
Beat That is particularly brilliant.

We got Outsmarted last year and is really good for playing with people who are elsewhere over Christmas as they can join online. It went down on Christmas Day last year as so many people were playing so hopefully they’ve sorted that. We played it in Portugal this summer and DDs boyfriend joined. It was great fun!

Gullible. It's like Balderdash in that you have to make up pretend definitions and the other team has to guess the correct one. But you have chips which you use to bet on the right answer and the winners are the team with the most chips, rather than just counting the scores. In my experience kids love the chips element.

My nearly 18yo said to recommend Ransom Notes and Uno!

We really love Ransom Notes.
