I have 2 teen/adult children (20&15) and I'm pregnant.

I want to tell them before Christmas as I know they won't be pleased and we want to tell other family on Christmas day who will be pleased. I don't want to ruin my childrens Christmas day

How should I tell them? I'm thrilled but have my big girl pants on that they won't be.

Bit different here as I told my 20 and 18 year old when we started trying
I had a miscarriage earlier this year which made my DH and I realise how much we wanted one. I really struggled with the miscarriage and my DD was aware so I don't think it was a huge surprise when we later talked about having trying for a baby, my reasoning was I didn't want them at uni and thinking we were replacing them
My DS wasn't particularly bothered, my DD delighted at the idea

I appreciate you are worried about their reaction but they may surprise you. My DD asked me to tell her as soon as I know, incase if another miscarriage so she can be there for me. She absolutely melted my heart

Congratulations on your pregnancy, I really hope they are pleased for you

Terrible idea to tell anyone over Xmas. It will make it all about the baby. Tell everyone after Christmas

Ahhh, I forgot how brutal Mumsnetters can be!

Yes I was young when I had them, my eldest had used the my ensuite and seen ovulation test box which prompted conversation about money worries.

Yes its the same father, I had health problems that meant I had to delay TTC to have a 3rd which would have given a more socially acceptable age gap.
